They are irritated when you take sick days, yet will scream at you for coming in sick. They consider it lazy to take entitled annual leave days regardless of how much notice you give. They treat you like shit yet are terrified of losing you to go elsewhere. I just cannot wrap my head around it. Do they not notice their delusional and contradicting attitude towards employees? Just a rant, chime in if you like.
If you’ve ever been a sanitation worker, garbage collector, dishwasher etc. I hear you. We are looked down upon and spat on despite the fact that without people like us willing to take the job, every person on this planet would likely be fucking dead from covid-19. I make less than every person at my fucking job, as a dishwasher, and I’m treated as though it’s “unskilled labor”. Tell that to every other fucking crash-test dummy that’s come out of the woodwork. We are one of the most over-looked professions to date, in my opinion. If you go to a restaurant, do your best to keep the mess at a minimum. Stop deliberately making our jobs difficult cuz “ThAt’S yOuR jOb”. I can’t even afford to LIVE for the job I do. Because people don’t think workers like us deserve to live.
Work means absolutely nothing to me..
I’ve felt like this since my second job out of high school working as a customer service agent, I’m 28 now. I’ve pretty much done a good range of jobs throughout the years, from flipping burgers to office jobs. I’m currently in a manufacturing plant for a well known company and make okay money. The older I get the more I realize that working is basically just legal slavery, I come into work everyday with no motivation to go above a beyond and do just enough to keep my job. I don’t miss days, never late and I work well with a team so I’m not lazy. Management tells me I’m doing a good job but all I hear in my head is “thank you for continuing to slave away for us, you get to keep your job another day” it means absolutely nothing to me, I’m doing exactly what…
Got fired from a job I had worked fewer than 8 days because I decided to do the right thing and protect my coworkers from a disease I believed I had. It was around Christmas and all the clinics were closed I couldn’t get tested until Wednesday. The doctor ordered me to quarantine for 2-4 weeks. They told me I couldn’t do that because they are no valid absences even though they told me to go home and get tested last Monday. Keep in mind this is a company that works with seniors in senior living facilities for physical therapy purposes. So what the fuck should I have done? Lie to keep my job and potentially infect people in a company who cares so much about making seniors live dignified lives. Hell I just work IT so I’m not in the field, but what if a new hire in the…
holiday pay in cali
My work week is Tuesday through Saturday in california. My work decided to let us have Xmas eve and new years eve off because both the actual holidays were on our normal day off. The problem is that because these weren't recognized holidays they will both be unpaid. I'm all for a three day weekend but I also have bills to pay. I know cali doesn't require byisness to be closed or to pay extra to work on holidays but I can't find anything that relates to my specific situation. Does any one know if a buisness decides to close for an unrecognized holiday during a normal work day, would they need to pay out for that?
