I would quit immediately
im fired but i still have to go to work?
I (F19) started a job at a cake shop almost two weeks ago. I worked 4 days and went to lectures the rest 3 days. I had disclosed to the boss and manager that im a full tine student and that i need a job to pay the bills and my student loan. My first day of work rolls in and at the end of my 13h workday where i had to stand on foot the whole day and i had no set breaks meaning someone else would always be out to smoke and since i don't smoke i don't have 5minutes to sit down even. Still, I've been trying my hardest, but these last few days at work,my manager has ignored me and refused to explain any part of my tasks to me. Today, however, i get a call from my manager while im in a lecture. My manager…
I would say that over 70% of this subreddit could be handled with something most of us got in High school. A basic class we called Business law and other older American call consumer law. This was a class that explained the bare basics of labor and consumer law. What a lease was, and how housing costs are tied to interest rates. Even what money is and what a basic contract needs. So we watch you “hopefully” younger adults comment in confusion…wondering why a simple class that pertains to almost every citizen was removed from the curriculum.
Hey all, Postgrad from college, I got pretty lucky with my first 2 companies being that they were some large players in the industry I am in within technology and business i.e. typical consulting roles. I have 4.5 years total experience now, so just enough that most low-mid / mid level positions require a lot more from me now. Due to personal reasons, my performance was suffering and I got terminated from my last company after being warned about not being able to step it up to their expectations. Its now been 2 months unemployed and I feel like a unicorn cause in theory, I have a great background although I am very anxious about my experience since I felt like I skirted by and didn't get the foundational knowledge I could have got if I worked harder. I feel anxious everyday and this stops me from doing stuff or…
Had to call out yesterday for a painful medical reason, called out 4 hours before my shift. I get a text today from my manager basically telling me I had to come in on my off day to make up for calling out. Says its her “new policy”… yeah, no. 🥴
Overreacting or legit complaint?
I work for a multimillion dollar company. The office has a staff 30+ people and the warehouse that is attached has much more. The bathrooms only work about 30% of the time and this has been an ongoing issue for around 7 months. If we do need to use the restroom we have to walk outside to the next building which is about 100 yards away. It is not ADA compliant nor does it have a ramp to even get inside the building, only stairs. There is no covered walkway so we have to walk in the elements. Apart from that, the toilets in the main office are constantly getting clogged. I have listened to plumber after plumber tell them that the pipes they went with when remodeling where the wrong size and the only way to truly fix the issue is to rip everything up and replace them with…
Basically he found out I was looking at another job back in December. I stayed because 1 I wasn’t looking very seriously and 2 they gave me a raise I was happy enough with. Every time we meet he brings up if I’m looking for jobs again even though I have said every time I wasn’t (and explained the situation about the last one). Today he told me he asks that people give the company a 2 month notice. His reasoning? Because a reference from a COO looks better than a reference from a coworker or manager and they need time to find a replacement. Lol.
