I work part time delivering pizza (pretty much just a nice little vacation fund) me and one other person who splits as a manager are literally the only drivers. Well there was a last minute meeting scheduled at my full time job which is occurring during a shift at the pizza place so naturally I tell the manager about it and he tells me that the shift is already scheduled and the other driver is scheduled as a manager that day. So there is literally nobody to ask so now I’m getting guilt tripped into coming in (I’m not going too) it’s just frustrating that I have to be « the bad guy » because I literally have no one to switch with.

I want to rant about a new work tracker my company installed on it’s computers. Throughout the work day I spent my time troubleshooting how this application tracks time, this way I can find an efficient way to make the “working time” number go up. The application counts time in two ways. First is time that the mouse is being moved. The second is a small fraction of a second after you release a key on your keyboard. It doesn’t even count time if you hold down one key to continuously type one character. I have a desk job that uses a lot of Microsoft Office software and I have become very efficient with these softwares. I know all the hot keys and shortcuts. I use so many keyboard shortcuts that my “work time” looks terrible. I get all my work done on time. Never have any complaints from my…

A coffee shop attached to a bar/restaurant in Texas hired me at an hourly rate of $15 plus tips. My first paycheck for an hour of training was roughly $14 after taxes. My next paycheck was also at an hourly rate of $15, roughly 28 hours with a net pay of $367. For whatever reason, the tips were not added onto this paycheck. I, stupidly, figured this was some sort of oversight and notified my managers. They all gave me the run around until the next pay period and told me they cut me a check for the tips. It mysteriously disappeared. Of course. My next paycheck had an hourly rate of $7.25, more than a 50% decrease. The tips were added onto the check for this pay period. With the tips added, it equaled to a hourly rate of, you guessed it, $15 (net pay of roughly $514 for…
I've been out of work for a while now due to mental and physical health issues. A couple of the places in my area always have Now Hiring signs up, and I pretty easily got into interviews with them. When it came time to discuss pay, I was fully flabbergasted. I've been on this sub long enough to know the labor market is full of bullshit, but man was it shocking. The first place I interviewed at was a local liquor store, mind you, I need to be 21+ to work there, and the pay rate they offered me starting out was only $9/hr for part time. Fully shocked, I went to my next interview at a local grocery store and was told that the most they could probably pay me was 11.40/hr. Both of these pay less than any job I have ever worked. I am absolutely floored. No…
Last year, I was coming back to work after my lunch break. Some idiot ran a stop sign, hit me, flipped my SUV, and ran. Like, he literally jumped out of his car and ran away before I could even get my seatbelt unbuckled. As an aside: being upside down in a car is 1) the worst rollercoaster ride ever; 2) disorienting as hell; 3) hurts like hell once the adrenaline wears off, which can take a while; and 4) is definitely 1 out of 5, do not recommend. Anyway, I went to the ER, found out my sternum was fractured, and came home. A few days later, I went to my regular doctor who told me to work from home for six weeks. So I had him document that, and I turned that in with my sick-leave form for the absence so far. My boss signed off on working…
I’ve been to the hospital 4 times in the last year, requiring 2 surgeries. 1 of those was life saving. Got a call from my boss the other day saying he thinks I take too much advantage of my free time and that my attitude has changed since the surgeries. He mentioned that “others” have said noticed my attitude change. This is coming up because recently at the office I expressed my “attitude” towards life by saying I don’t care that much about day to day things. I care more about time with my wife, friends, and family. Somehow that got turned around into I don’t care about work, I steal time from the company, etc. This phone call came on Wednesday after I had an accident on Monday that sent me to the ER with a dislocated shoulder and torn ligaments. I used my PTO to cover the time…
Just heard this on a corporate call and wanted to hurl. F*** golf. That is all.
