A few years ago, I worked for a large multinational corp known for stealing water and souls and making cookies. I'll call them Bestle. My boss there was a “wonderful” guy I'll call Bob. He was one of those who would spend the entire lunch hour telling us all about how amazing he was at X; better than the professionals, by far. X being cooking, cleaning, carpentry, home repair, IT, home theater design, and on and on. I was told by my boss to check my email regularly when I am on leave. I got text message from him which I should have ignored. It was not that important. They messed up my paycheck for a month last year anyways. I am not letting it get to me and told them I will not be able to file my taxes due to incorrect w-2. I left it as it is. I am not going to bother checking my email tomorrow since my worker compensation will not immediately expire while I am recuperating. I've learned not to respond to text, and emails when ure on leave disregarding the medical nature.

Amazon return to office updates
Well this sucks, Andy just sent out an update that there are plans for return office for WFH. Sure it's implied that some may be able to stay WFH but this sucks and shouldn't be happening. Uhg.
We have to believe in change
This is going to sound delusional and naive to many of you. I appreciate the cynicism with everything that happens in the world. I am no stranger to suffering and cruelty. However try and warm those iced over hearts for a moment as I attempt to expound on how cynicism isn't smart, even if it's logical. Cynicism sucks because it's a defense mechanism of learned helplessness in the face of a crushing system. You accept that things are bad and will go badly in the future because having hope hurts. To get through this crushing hellscape intact we kill off the hopeful feelings because it's untenable to keep them. It works on an individual level because you hurt less while trying to survive in this world. Your beliefs about the world line up with what you see. However it leaves us collectively in a problem.
