I’m convicted that a portion of “no one wants to work anymore” is owners and management that don’t want to come out from their offices to help.

I see small businesses all around with help wanted signs up for a few years now. I'm like 100% convinced many are run by some guy who won't take the time to come out from his office to actually help hands on. It makes such a difference to employees to see a manager or owner who's actually willing to come out and help. Let alone the fact that they just should. Especially in the service and retail. And not just to look good either. I definitely could see that happening. These people are paid well and I bet money they have the time. Someone can't come in and YOU the manager or owner (not the employee) can't find someone to fill the shift. You fill the shift. That's why you are paid more. You want someone else to do it on their day off? Fuck it Pay them a little…

I feel work is going to eventually kill me and I don’t know what to do

I (24M) am a university student and despite the fact work agreed to just give me an 18 hour week on a 0 hours contract, they are scheduling me 3 9 hour shifts a week overnights. On top of that, last week alone, one of my friends had commited suicide and they gave me no time off at all. I ended up calling sick one of the days due to genuine sickness, as the stress was so much I was throwing up, to which I got interrogated and guilt tripped for not coming in. I have terrible physical health due to my mental health condition and not a single workplace has been supportive of it. Even if people are nice at work, whenever I voice out my complains I get people going “Uh this other 24y/o works 6 days a week” and they aren't even a student nor have a…

Need HELP please organizing a boycott.

I’m proposing a nation wide boycott of USA companies making X amount of profits. We need to come up with a list of exceptional offenders of mistreatment of workers. These posts in this thread make me sick and each one has someone making a very good point…. These jobs/companies make profits = they don’t care about their workers mistreatments. Let’s hit em where it hurts, their pockets! Whose with me?!?

Blinded by The Light

I just suffered a life altering injury last week Wednesday, the 15th of February. I was on a commercial crabber, took the blunt end of an unwrapped bamboo buoy stick to my eye, crushing it, and from what I've been told, pretty much blinding it for the rest of my life. Was life flighted to one of the top trauma hospitals in the country after being brought to shore, and after multiple hours of surgery they saved the eye, just not my sight. I had a 10 year plan in place but the low prices of crab, etc tied in with the high prices of everything else has extended that. I'm bummed and trying to hope, and keep positive, I still have another eye. But I'm ashamed that a part of me feels relief because of the financial compensation I'll receive for that. I just lost half the light of…

Remember when work says the will let you go home it’s only if they don’t have enough people to keep production high enough. When I got back to my house I’m glad it was all downhill as kept getting stuck trying to go uphill.

Company Traced My Glassdoor Review Back to Me and now they want to Schedule a Call

I recently left a Glassdoor review for a company I interviewed with, but didn't end up getting the job. I wanted to alert other candidates about the red flags I found during the hiring process. However, the company somehow managed to trace the review back to me, and I have no idea how they did it. To be honest, I'm not even scared or intimidated that they found out it was me behind the review. I've been job searching since I got laid off, and I don't care about burning bridges at this point. Companies already burn bridges with their bad treatment and terrible hiring processes, treating employees and job candidates as disposable assets. The hiring manager even sent me an email to schedule a call with him to clarify some of the points I made in my review and to see if there's a job opportunity for me. But…
