I worked for about 6 months this time just taking it day by day, drinking of course. Quit about 3 weeks ago, now I'm out of money. Hopefully I'll get a decent tax return. A little rant post: I’ve applied to a number of New York City and New York State gov jobs. I have no interest in civil service but my family is very insistent that I apply and it ultimately takes no time. I have started getting emails about “hiring pools” Essentially, you and many other people are called to come to the location at 9 AM and they interview you according to some order. By the time they get to you, the position may or may not be filled! It literally says this. They want you to take a day off work and you’re not even guaranteed an interview. Meanwhile they complain they can’t find people to come to these! This makes no fucking sense. They literally are using the worst possible model for interview scheduling.
I think it’s time to revisit rule 7. Sure, cops have no place here, but after a post was removed because it was from a landlord, I think it’s time to reasses. The person in question was trying to learn and understand, at least that was my impression before it disappeared. They were interacting in a polite, respectful, and inquisitive. I believe that refusing to engage with other parties and view points will leave this sub a glorified venting session that won’t, in the end, change much if anything. When I told my boss that my co-workers should tell me upfront about faults as to better improve instead of waiting and telling her as to not let things fester. For which she replied that they did the right thing of telling her instead of me. For which she then tells me “I’m tired of you playing blame games.”
My company is claiming that they will dock our performance ratings at year end or even fire us if we don't go in an average of 3 days a week. This us a very large company that had a “soft” RTO policy last year (not really enforced) but this year they claim that they're cracking down and enforcing it. For context, a lot of us were WFH before the pandemic, and even when we are in the office, we are spread out all over the country. They only know if we come in by checking badge scans. Nailed my interviews and received the official job offer on a Friday. I said I'd give my official answer the following week but was leaning towards taking it. So Monday rolls around and I email the dept manager some followup questions about the job. I also mention that I have a medical card in case there's a drug test I have to take. Basically every job I've had as an adult you couldn't do high without risk of a bad time (death), so that to me suggests that I'm clearly not doing that. For context I live in a somewhat small town and there’s only a handful of sit down restaurants so we get a lot of regulars. On Tuesday night I was working and this lady who was in another server’s section called the police on me because I had a warrant for failing to appear on a misdemeanor court date I had no idea about. I guess once a month these are posted in the newspaper and she took it upon herself to report my whereabouts. I don’t know for sure but I think she asked someone my name, because I didn’t even know she did it until the police showed up. It was horribly embarrassing even though they tried to not make a huge scene. The woman was filming me and seemed to be bragging about what she did to other people around.
