The defense budget is going to be raised in the next few months. Perhaps we can coordinate a work stoppage the moment it happens?

Everywhere you look workers are expected to take cuts right now. Rising interest rates are intended to increase layoffs, force people to return to offices and suppress wage growth. In addition the retirement age for social security is going to be going up while life expectancy in this country is going down. But the defense budget is about to increase. I think this could be the spark everyone could rally around. You can find people from all walks of life who believe the U.S. spends too much on the military… including active military members. There isn't an exact date yet but it seems guaranteed it'll pass before the debt ceiling is raised and it looks like the latest that'll happen is in June. Wouldn't have to be all at once either. I'm not trying to get people in precarious financial positions and no vacation or sick days to risk everything…

been waiting 51 mins & counting for my 330 scheduled interview…this job was the reason I relocated, what do I do?

Pretty much the title… This is a seasonal job where I make really good money and when I left last year I was told I just had to notify HR and I’d be put back on the schedule, so I set things in motion and move down here but new management has taken over and they are making me re-interview. That’s already a headache but I had an interview scheduled for 330 is literally on Google calendar scheduled by the HR lady with two other staff members and one of them has left for the day and the other one apparently is finishing up with another interview which makes no sense since mine was scheduled. I literally need this job

I am also tired of the phrase “quiet quitting,” but as someone who has an incredibly weak spine and difficulty delegating, how do you silently show your workplace that you do not give a sh*t?

Weak spine in the metaphorical sense, physically I’m “fine.” I am also at my wit’s end, and am compulsive about doing certain things because in some cases (SOME!) I am truly the only person who can or will do x task. I am tired and I want to start acting my wage. What are your tips? How do you maintain the appearance of productivity in an in-office job while never doing a single thing more than you’re compensated for? I have spent countless hours on this sub, and I really would love to see a comprehensive list of “how to do exactly what you’re paid for and nothing else?”

people who have “made it” and became successful tend to look down on the lower middle class. isn’t that kind of the problem here?

If you grinded, busted your ass, studied, gave it your absolute all, showed discipline, and really “worked hard”, until like the medical profession or law, or business. If you fell in love with the girl of your dreams, live in a house, own a cute dog, have a fancy car, and feel important doesn't that make it undoubtedly hard to not look down on the poor or the lower middle class ? What does everyone think about this? Isn't this the problem? This comes from someone who was born of priviledge and has family members like this.

ENOUGH.

That’s it. My wife and I have had enough. We (mid 30’s) finally came to the realization that we won’t be able to retire anyways so we may as well work jobs that won’t kill us mentally or physically, just in the hope to be able to retire when we can’t enjoy it. She started her own bakery out of the house with her as the only staff member and I’m working (sort of. I love it) at one job seasonally with the rest of the year being self improvement, creativity and sometimes work. It’s finally something that will allow a lot of time with family, is flexible and pays enough to get by. We’ve gone through a lot of the options: high paid and stressed, low paid and exhausted (and sore), berated by customers, managers and owners. The path we’re on now seems to the best. So what if…

I quit my job and my employer wants me to write the job posting + handoff sheet

They expect so much of me, they asked me what equipment I owe them, to write a job listing describing my job along with my duties, availability for an exit interview. And they want me to do a sheet up to hand off to the next person cuz apparently they don't even know what I'm doing. Why is even quitting at this place annoying as fuck?

Asking too much? In my opinion, this being a preliminary application, requesting a video detailing the same info you will likely cover in an actual interview is a bit much. For 12-14$ per hour? What a joke.

I am…so excited for generation Z to not only enter…but BECOME the work force. Thoughts?

Anyone else? I know this won’t happen for a good 20 years. But I can’t wait to see how office culture and work culture in general changes. I see tik toks of generation Z essentially stating that they are only looking to work the hours they need in order to get stuff done, (but for the same amount of pay), mental health days, etc. Now, I know it could take a while. But it makes me hopeful that people are catching on to this “work yourself to death” mentality being completely out of style. I will never work an abusive job. I would quite literally rather be homeless. I absolutely love listening to boomers complain about the following generations being lazy, unorganized, etc. it ignites something inside of me. This is more of a satire-ish post. Obviously I’m not expecting them to change everything. But very interesting to think what…
