Despite earning more than 75% of the population I will never be able to afford anything

I make more than 75% of all people – and while I dont have a bad life – I will never ever be able to afford a house/property or a family. After paying rent + all the other necessities I am left with some 600 Dollars at the end of the month. I save around 300 and spend around 300 on social activities and interests and stuff I dont really need. With such a saving rate I would need around 80 years to buy a cheap house – no car though – no other expenses no family. And this despite making more than 75% of the population. Its beyond f***k. If I would make just 500 Dollars less I could barely survive. I cant imagine how people who earn less than me do it. Such a system has to fail – it MUST fail.

Is 4×10 schedule worth it if days off aren’t consecutive and I still have to work the weekend?

My boss offered me a “better” schedule of four days on three days off because I show up an hr early every day (unpaid), never leave early, and rarely call in. The catch is that I don’t have weekends off, and my days can be tossed around as they see fit so they won’t be 4 on followed by 3 off. For ex: 2 on one off, 1 on one off etc. my new schedule would be 11:30am to 11 pm. Currently I’m 2:30pm to 11 pm and do get either sat or sun off every other week. I work a cushy office type job so the extra 2 hrs a day is just extra mental stress but is it worth it if there’s absolutely nothing else beneficial besides the extra day off?

Working from home is better for the company!

My job said I have to be in the office 3 days a week and their explanation is “We need to use our office space”. Dumbest idea ever. I have not called sick once since I started working remotely because I could just work from bed. I guess I will be taking my sick days then and be miserable in traffic and cubicle “socialising” with colleagues who look over my shoulder to see what's on my screen and if I'm being productive every minute of the shift.

Wife’s work is making her take PTO due to “lack of productivity”

Hi. Posting here to see if anyone can point me in the right direction. My wife works from home for a company based in Texas. She requested a half-day recently because she wasnt feeling well. Her boss ran a “productivity report” and has decided that my wife should actually request more hours of PTO for that day because she wasnt active for bits of the day. Keep in mind, she is paid per processed case, not an hourly wage. And she actually completed half of her work for the day despite her “inactivity”. So, to me, forcing her to take PTO retroactively seems like a form of wage theft (trying to use up her PTO so later she cant take off). I feel like the correct move here is just to say “No, thanks.” But I cant find anything that specifically says a boss cant do this. What say you?…

“I misread your e-mail and thought it said today, not Tuesday. So you missed your interview.” – HR of the “dream job” I applied to. Why do I even try?

Not sure if this is the right place for this, but I published a book about a worker’s uprising in a surreal, Kafkaesque factory, and, well, I’m pretty proud

Inflation idea

So I’ve had a thought lately that we’re slowly repeating the mistake of Germany post Great War here in the US. Why don’t we stop the presses and mints for a while. Reduce the amount of cold hard cash in circulation, right? Only problem with this idea that I’m seeing is how we deal with the digital side of things. Debit and credit cards and the like. Thoughts?
