Hi guys, GF recently left a very abusive job. Came home in tears most nights. Employers and managers are bullies and intentionally look for younger/inexperienced people so they can abuse/overwork and indoctrinate them into a cult, recently they bullied/duped/pressured a naiive new mother into quitting so they get out of paying her maternity leave. How do I go about making sure that more people don’t fall for it? I am sure from the way it’s being run it won’t be around in a few more years, but any advice on how to accelerate this process would be welcome!

Sunshine is a rare treat
Hey Everyone, I hope y'all are all well. I'm finally leaving my extremely toxic job after 11.5 years! And No ! I did not give them a resignation letter because they really don't deserve it! Here's why, over the course of 11.5 years I've experienced/viewed the following: Nobody has a contract, proof of employment, pays employment tax or even has a pay slip. None of us (+/- 80 employees) have bank accounts. Nobody has a job description and we are constantly exploited and abused. We are forced to do whatever we are asked even if it's not our job or is a personal favor to director and he's family. There's no specific working times and there's times were we worked between 12-16 hours a days without extra renumeration. Asking for extra renumeration, a pay rise or time off from work may result in you being fire or ridiculed for the…
Just got laid off after President’s Day
The first week of February, I came into contact with a covid individual. I called into my work in hopes for covid leave. Return to find out accumulated attendance points for five days. I was half point away from termination at this. My parents had to be dropped off at the airport for February 17, 2023. I scheduled a week in advance for request paid time off. Last Friday, I messaged my direct supervisor, “just a reminder, I am going to take my parents to the Los Angeles airport area. My request time off was submitted on the 2/9/2023.” I return to work on President’s Day to find out that I accumulated the final half points for termination. Why did I get paid for the pto even though I accumulated attendance points? It doesn’t make sense at all. I applied for unemployment. Not sure if I will get benefits for…
I am currently in school and going to complete my degree in 2 years. I am working a part time job while in my studies. I just got a raise. This is amazing and sad at the same time. The part time job I am at requires little skill when I applied but gave me an overall 6% and 11% respectively over two years. The work that I am going for begins lower and I have heard raises rarely go over 5% annually. I am seriously considering studying something else after three years because it is paying better and less physically and mentally demanding.
I'm 39(M). I'm an industrial engineer, grad of 09', and also a registered nurse from 17'. I've done many, many lines of work in my life, and all of them deranged my mental well-being. Many of these jobs were exploitative in nature, and I applied myself to learn valuable degrees and skills in order to have a meaningful career. I. 2020 I was lucky to find the first job in my life that didn't sturr up crippling anxiety – I was a product manager for a cutting edge medical device in the ICU field. It required both my engineering skills and clinical expertise. They pay was 52k dollars a year and I got a car, life was good. 18 months later, I got laid off because the Covid bonanza was over. I have been searching for a similar job frantically since then. I even excelled in a subsidized cyber security…
We work a provincial government job in healthcare. Our management expects our entire department to celebrate holidays and birthdays at a restaurant they decide on by taking a “group vote”. We are expected to pay for our own meals. This is done on company time, and opting out is not allowed. At time’s management collects for donations towards a gift if it is a retirement for a coworker. I resent feeling obligated to : 1. Spend my own money on eating out this way. 2. I work with these people and would rather not socialize with most of them, particularly the management. (Working a full day around them is enough for me). 3. Being expected to financially contribute to a retirement gift for YOUR employees because your too cheap to get them one on behalf of the company. (And you get the credit for giving)! I want to work, and…
