I’m a J1 student worker, I’ve been working for a couple of months in a certain hotel in CA and I’ll go back to my country in a month. Recently my boss gave a new list of tasks for my job and it had a few names of places in the hotel I had never heard before, I had visited them but they don’t have the names visible to you, there’s no way I’d know the names. I asked him where are some of the places and he started explaining (very aggressively, but anyway). At some point his directions didn’t make sense, I told him and he said “no, you’re dumb and your understanding isn’t working” (or something very similar, I don’t remember it 100% right and had to translate it). Don't give me the “oh you should feel flattered” bullshit, the last time I dealt with a guy who made creepy comments was from my stalker who followed me for 8 years. The coworker is thrice my age and was also trying to isolate me from the other coworkers by talking shit about me behind my back. I didn't even know about it until they approached me about it and told me to inform them if he starts making issues for me. Well… I hit my breaking point. I reported it to my supervisor today and he did fuck all and the creepy said got attitude towards me and I broke. I went above my supervisor's head and went straight to the department head and made a statement. They were not happy. So this happened: I work somewhere that doesn't pay the bills, but I would've said I mostly enjoy the work… until I went into a pizza shop and an employee made it clear. Me: “So you like it here? This place seems pretty cool!” Employee at counter: “Ever heard of Stockholm syndrome?” Ha ha that's funny…. wait a minute… fml.

I’m truly within inches of getting fired – it’s not if, it’s when, and the when is within the next 7-21 days. There’s a lot that happened to get us here, things that I take accountability for and things that the company will never take accountability for. I got my final disciplinary letter last Monday. On Saturday, I emailed my district coordinator and direct boss saying I’d be taking off this whole week to celebrate my one year anniversary of being clean. It was a bold move but fuck them. Monday morning, the coordinator responded saying she put my vacation in and it was just pending the boss’ approval. That boss is away on business this week and hasn’t answered to approve/deny my vacation. Last post made short, I am a low-level manager in a retail store. The store is disgusting, management loves to verbally abuse us calling us worthless, so packed full of freight you can barely shop, most new hires don't even last a month, and everyone stays utterly miserable. I got tired of being called easily replaceable, not enough, and the threats of write-ups constantly. Two days after that post, I scored some interviews but nothing fantastic. Then the one job I was really hoping for called to give me an interview. And I got the job!!! It was a competitor grocery store.
