Just a vent, I guess. I recently changed jobs, but am still friendly with people at my former company. Well, I guess I got out in the nick of time, because they just laid off the entire department. I started getting messages from friends immediately after it happened. For whatever stupid reason, I felt compelled to let a person in a different department know about the layoff, so that they could keep their head on a swerve. This company is notoriously tight-lipped about most things, so I did not know if the news had traveled to other employees yet. I also hate the fact that employers have the expectation of a 2 weeks notice, when they can fire an entire team with zero warning and still sleep easy at night. Don’t Be Evil
“Tip your landlord”
Just venting about tipping
I am a boba tea shop barista, get paid minimum wage. I don’t expect people tip much but it actually doesn’t matter because my boss will NOT give me any of those tip. Yesterday there were some people who were so sweet. They are like ‘nowadays life is tough for everyone so I am going to tip more’. I am really grateful for their kindness but all their tips money are just going to benefits my greedy selfish boss.
I have had my current availability for years, but recently the company “changed their rules” for part time employee availability. i am now required to give availability for both Saturday and Sunday- even though i have had Sunday off for 2+ years and my team has survived just fine. here’s the kicker- more than half of my job is shipping and receiving- would love to know their reasoning behind making me work when we don’t ship or receive on Sundays. I honestly can’t see a reason besides they want all employees to be a little bit miserable. I am not available for work on Sundays, and when i told them i wasn’t available, they told me to “rethink this job.” i’ve been there for 5 years.

I apply and within a week, I am interviewed and offered a job. I get the offer letter and the start date is over 2 months from now. I reached out to the recruiter about that and apparently that was a decision made by my current manager with my new manager. I was LIVID! It’s not my problem they can’t keep any of the people they hire and…
