I've seen a bunch of stories of people working 60-70 hours a week and getting paid peanuts, meanwhile their boss just bought their 5th supercar and they can't decide if they want to go to their beach house or mountain house for their 15th vacation this year. Really just gets on my nerves, ya know? Wondering if there's anyone else out there that feels the same.

For context, I work at a retail location which is part of a union (being vague for reasons) and I’ve been here for just over 8 months. I’ve never been late and only call in sick when absolutely necessary and have been a relatively friendly employee. Recently I heard from one of the newer hires that all our hours are being cut EXCEPT for the person who’s been here for 7 years because of call offs and “just standing around doing nothing”. I’m being lumped in with the newer hires who have been sick and sent home frequently (every week one of them would call in or be sent home and one was frequently a minute or two late for their shift) when the one time I was sick I provided a doctor’s note because I had the stomach flu with lab results to confirm and was off 3 days…

I need advice. I work as a tutor for kids but my parents want me to get a 9-5 and career. My parents are literally begging me to start any online course to advance skills, anything I like. The problem is, I’m getting extreme anxiety about starting any course. My heartbeat speeds up, i want to cry. I never wanted a career, everything is boring and the stuff i like don’t pay me a livable wage. I have a bachelors degree but everyone makes fun of it. I would literally have to sell my soul and work in a career I don’t like so i can earn a higher wage. Just read on LinkedIn that there have been Goldman Sachs and Google layoffs as well. There have been so many in the last year that I lost count. Please update the name and number if you remember it.
