I need advice and I don’t know where to ask aside from here. I work from home. I used to be full time in office. After pandemic they said we wouldn’t go back. I told them I was selling my car. Work is 30 minutes away. My small department is being asked to come into the office to work on a problem “when we can” that was created by someone who no longer works there. It is 10 pages of private sensitive info being moved from one pdf to another pdf. It’s going to take possibly months to do this. My partner is driving me to work, waiting for me for two hours, and then driving me home before he has to go to work. We are both frustrated by this but I don’t know how to approach the situation. There is an assistant in the office with time to…
Month: April 2023
Do not go anywhere near this place! It is an absolutely a nightmare. First of all. the turnover rate is crazy. Some people quit after the first day, many only last a couple of weeks. They can’t keep nurses and for good reason. They are desperate to hire people, if you have a pulse they will pretty much hire you on the spot. Nepotism is a major issue. Family members have been strategically placed in positions that allows them to control the company. They, along with a few chosen one’s who have been allowed into the fold, function as a mob attacking those they don’t like. They openly mock, bullied and threaten employees. The other thing you will have to deal with at this company is that no one at the company talks to each other face to face. Everything is put on GroupMe where people are publicly shamed and…
I'm quitting my job in 30 mins. I hate everything about it and am moving out of this field. I'm so scared and nervous to do go talk to my boss. Please hype me up
There was a hot post a couple days ago about Rural Letter Carriers, this is the update!
I work in a supermarket kitchen and I do a lot of the repetitive tasks like washing dishes, serving and cleaning tables, even though I am trained to cook and use the checkout. My supervisor seems to avoid allowing me to cook or work checkout so I get stuck doing the least favourable jobs. I'm not a very outspoken person but I'm not shy either. I just don't like to make a fuss. I usually just go with whatever my supervisor says for an easier life but today I reached the end of my tether. She has been constantly criticising me since the moment I was employed and especially today. It had been building up throughout the day but the final straw was when she walked over to me and a colleague (after her shift had ended) and told us that us having a conversation, looking like we weren't doing…
Withheld commissions?
Ok so I’ve never posted here before so hear me out. Company I work for pays commission per item sold. I’m having to sign a form stating I agree. Thing is, if you don’t sell at least 5 for the month, you do not receive commission on that item. However you will receive all other commissions(5 in total). Is it illegal to withhold commissions like that? Say I have a bad month or I’m out for the majority of the month and I sell 4? I get nothing? Alabama labor laws btw Love to hear your thoughts.
In 1993, Microsoft faced financial difficulties, and the head of HR, Mike Murray, sent a memo called the “Shrimp and Weenie Guidelines,” urging employees to cut back on extravagant spending. Today, many tech companies are facing similar financial challenges, and they have started cutting costs by laying off employees, reducing perks, and lowering bonuses. The changes have been difficult for many employees who have grown used to the extravagant perks that are common in the tech industry. However, as the tech industry becomes more competitive, companies are realizing the importance of financial prudence, and they are encouraging employees to become more cost-efficient. Murray's memo serves as a reminder that success can be destroyed by excess, and companies should focus on serving “weenies, not shrimp.” God forbid employee can enjoy little perks by the company of the richest man of those times.
