Just found out today I got a slap on the wrist because my attendance score went down a whole percentage point because in the year I've working for my job I've only missed four days. My manager explained to me it's because of the vast number of people we have working where we do that everyone gas to be present, but when I asked him what's the point of having paid time then he could not answer. Last time I checked I am a free person, so why am I being held “accountable,” for the time-off provided by my company? How am I supposed to take “personal responsibilty,” for being sick on a non-scheduled work day?

This my first post in this subreddit so I hope I’m not doing this wrong. I signed a contract for my company stating for every year of schooling or training that I completed I would receive 5000 dollars. The parameters were that I completed my schooling and that I work at least 25 hours a week while maintaining a b average gpa. I have maintained all of those parameters and when I asked For the second half I was ghosted. I let my manager know that if the company doesn’t intend to honor their end of the contract I would start looking for other places of employment. Well he told me a week later that I wouldn’t get that check due to me not staying past my scheduled shift to complete a job a few months ago and that he took me saying what I said as a resignation. He…
Burned out dad
Been working a skilled labor job at a large company for over 10 years now(blue collar). Great at my job but tired of it. Started when I was 21 and I just want to try something else but I make over 6 figures where I’m at with great benefits. I also have a wife who’s a stay at home mom and have 2 young daughters (1 and 4).The thought of trying something new is crazy relieving but also comes with a ton of dread as I live in a HCOL area and don’t want my kids to go without. I didn’t have much as a kid and my family wasn’t the happiest and I just want to be a great provider. With that being said it’s not weird for me to work 60 hour weeks working 19 days straight then just taking 2 off and getting back after it with…
Looking for advice- I’m a coach at a gym and my employer just wrote me an email saying there isn’t money to pay me for the last pay period. He said he most likely will be able to pay me what I’m owed on the next pay period. I’m scheduled to coach this coming week but I don’t see why I should, or how I will get paid. The job is pt and I enjoy it thoroughly, and also provides a free membership for me, so I’d like to stay on. How would you reply to his email?! Thanks
literally what the fuck. I’ve been looking for a job for two months and last week I went to this local pizza shop, for some lunch, and they had a laminated paper on their front door that said “NOW HIRING. ALL POSITIONS.” they even listed all the positions below that text (pizza-making, register, dishwashing, etc.) So I decide to go back the next day after class with my resume, make sure i look presentable and friendly, have a brief conversation with the co-manager, hand over my resume, and that’s it. Well, it’s been 7 days since I went in there, so I figured I’d call and follow up about the resume. The same woman I talked to last week, picks up the phone and chats with me. She then tells me that “yeah, I gave your resume to my husband (the other manager) and we’re actually not hiring right now,…
