I need to quit my job again.

I’m so fucking sick of hospitality as an industry. I’m now 23, been working since 15 and I’ve had over 20 jobs because this industry absolutely fucking sucks. I’ve left for so many reasons, unpaid labour, no breaks, sexual harassment, workplace bullying. This time feels different because no one has really done anything to me per say, but they are morally fucking bankrupt. The way my managers talks about disabled people, trans people and people of colour just repulses me. I can’t say anything because I would get fired on the spot and I’ve literally only been there for a month. Leaving so many jobs makes me feel like a failure in this horrific late stage capitalism in which we measure our worth in our productivity and hence our work. I’m sick of having to leave jobs because the bourgeoisie all suck actual donkey dick. Anyways, I’m leaving for a…

My work just cut our pay by over 25%

They just announced a “new commission structure” that will instantly reduce my (and all our sales reps’) pay by 25-30% when it takes effect June 1st because our new corporate investors decided we are overpaid. Many of us have been with the company over a decade and helped build it from a small crumbling business into a successful $50 million/year company. As the company grew, so did our pay. We were making good money at about $150k a year and under the new structure we’ll still make over $100k so I’m sure they’re betting we’ll stay instead of starting over somewhere else. The company is still growing, just not as fast as they’d like, so they decided to literally take the money out of our pockets and put it in theirs.

Gave notice a month ago. Began telling coworkers I was leaving. Boss is enraged I told people.

Anyone else been told they can’t share they were leaving “for the good of the company” before? Landed myself in hot water over notifying my team I was transitioning out over the next few weeks.

Boss wants us to start verifying attendence online. Can you guys help me with some ?s about smartwatches please?

We will have to use that same verification system everyone else uses, I forget the name. Anyway, I'm assuming it works over the net and I'm against installing the app on my personal phone, on general principle. Thought I'd get myself a cheapass phone just for the purpose, but I can't really afford paying another whole phone bill just for that. So I see that metro has smartwatch service for $10/month. Does a smartwatch need to necessarily be associated with a working phone, or can it stand alone as a browser? Like if I got this cheap service, would that be all I'd need besides the watch for this certification thing? Thanks!

Cross post from r/legaladvice, boss wants a release to work form.. didn’t get hurt at work?

Boss requiring release to work.. didn't get hurt at work. Any advice? Back story: last Thursday on pre approved time off I herniated a disc in my L4/L5, put me in the hospital, on muscle relaxers constantly, etc. I've been in pain all week. I've made it very very known. I've sent emails to my team just asking for assistance with printers/folders/walking to another building with stairs. They've been fine with it. It's not inconvenient. Sometimes I have to walk around because of the pain. I will do 3 laps around the cubicles while reading stuff for work or take a break and do a short walk. Again, everyone knows it's for my pain. HR is looped in and knows what's going on. I went home today in TEARS a half hour early because of the combined pain and stress my boss put on me today. It was email after…

ELI5: What is “crossing the picket line”?

There is a strike coming up in my industry — which I myself am not affected by — and I want to make sure I'm acting in solidarity with the striking workers. I'm slightly confused what is meant by the expression “crossing the picket line”. Is it: – Scabbing? Knowingly or unknowingly taking on work set down by striking workers. – Continuing to work when you are a union member whose union is striking? – Continuing to work when you are a union member, but not part of the union which is striking? – Literally passing a physical picket line in order to gain access to the premises, whether you are a union worker or not? I'm non-union and am not in a position where I would be asked to scab. My thought is that if there are picket lines at my place of business, I will work from home…
