I'm military. I'm sick and tired of NCO's flexing their long hours as a reason to make junior enlisted lives suck. This “Dr. Zalost logic” (kudos if you get that reference) is annoying AF. Idgaf if you worked 14 hours; you're a 1SG running an entire company whereas I'm some random ass Specialist.

Now My Wife Believes Me
My wife has been working in publishing for over 30 years and has, thankfully, never dealt with the kind of brazen audacity that some employers have when it comes to wages, vacation, and benefits. Sure, she's had to deal with crappy bosses, but that's expected. At least, in her industry, things are still rather docile by comparison. Recently, my daughter (35) was fired from a long term position after reporting a coworker to her supervisor for sexual harassment. Nothing will come of a lawsuit. She took a severance, signed an NDA, and is moving on with her life. It sounds easy to fight everyone and everything but what's to gain? To the point. So my daughter is getting plenty of interviews and my wife is coaching her on resume writing, interviewing, and they talk daily about the interviews and offers my daughter gets. Then my wife calls me and says…
Re-post because I left the email address in a link which one redditor pointed out. Thank you, and that was not my intetion at all. I just want advice. I DO NOT BELIEVE IN DOXXING AND I WOULD LIKE TO APOLOGISE FOR THAT PROFUSELY. I am 23f and work for my University's Student Union – this is NOT the University itself, and would like to make that very clear that the University themselves have nothing to do with my problem. In order to be a “Student Staff Member” at the SU, you of course have to be registered as a student at the university. This will be important later. Outside of my university studies, I also run my own Events business. It's really small (100-150 tickets per event) and started it last year as a part of a University project. This year the person who I worked with in this…
IRS Worker Union in the Spotlight
Working in California
Finding it really hard to stay motivated lately. Don’t even know where to begin. I work my ass off and am left with hardly any time and energy for myself or family. This money goes straight into bills and food. How is anyone supposed to save let alone live a little bit like this?! I have a pretty decent job for my area there is no way we could survive should rent increase any more etc. Trying to keep the intrusive thoughts at bay but it’s getting very hard lately. Keep your chins up everyone! I know there are many way worse off than this and it just kills me. Everyone deserves better.
So every 3 months I need to see my doctor for my PrEP medication and swabbed for STIs (orally & anally). They are only available 9am to 4pm during the week. I obviously have to physically go in for the swabs. I know the American Disability Act protects those with an HIV infection. But I do NOT have HIV and take PrEP to prevent it as I’m a gay man and my community is more at risk for HIV. So I guess the ADA doesn’t protect me. If I need to come to work later or leave work early, I should be able to do so, correct? It’s every three month checkups and missing 2-3 hours max of the work day. I’d use my sick time… I have no problems there. But they can’t not hire me for a little accommodation like this, right?
I don’t know if I’m overreacting, but I would like some clarity. I feel like I’m going crazy from this. We have a “point system” at work that essentially counts your mistakes over a period of time. You miss work, get a point. Miss a punch, get a point. Late punch? Get a point. There’s no partial points either, the valuation is all the same. Oh, and if you are sick and can provide proof, or have chronic illness that means you have to call out maybe once a month or so, none of that is counted as an exception. Family emergency? It’s all still a point. If you get three within 3 months they put you on probation. If you get another one during probation you get out on 6 month probation. After that is (apparently) grounds for getting fired. Setting aside all the factual details, I am obviously…
