American work life conditions
I'm writing my Master's thesis on quiet quitting in Denmark. The phenomenon is American, so I need to outline the main differences between American and Danish work-life conditions. In other words I need to find an article looking at how American health care insurance and the non-existing culture of unionizing make workers more prone to staying in a job they dislike. I am trying to make the connection that due to health care being free in Denmark and unions paying a salary to you when you are in between jobs, Danes will be less likely to quiet quit. I've been googling terms like “American work life” “Unions, health care policy, work life, USA” etc. Does anyone know a more specific term regarding the problems of American work conditions or have suggestions on how I find evidence on my argument? Thank you!
The “Industrial Revolution” Incident
I have been a chef for ten years now. I briefly worked as a server and it was so much easier and pid so much better. I am sick of the long hours and bad pay and 6 day work weeks. I don’t even enjoy cooking anymore. I want to do something else, but not only do I not know how to, but I am on a work visa and am required to do this. I moved from America to Ireland to be with my boyfriend since he cannot get a US visa for another 18 months or so. The only way to get approved was by taking a special skills job and having a degree in it- so cheffing. I think I wouldnt mind it as much if I was still getting paid $25 an hour to work 10 hour days in a six day period, but Im am…
I got my first one at Autozone and still working today for almost 3 months. Not sure this is the best sub to ask but I want to give it a try.
The worst part about modern dating online is the constant fear that you will run into your co-workers, students, etc. Are jobs becoming a cultural tool to reienforce monogamous, cishet relationships?
My boss is a milionaire – without the value of his 3 houses he has like 3 to 4 Million in cash and investments lying around. He has a company of 40 people – and everyone makes fun of him how stupid he is. He doesnt understand the most basic stuff- has impulsive ideas that he wants executed right away and is lazy as f**k. Hes in the office from around 10 AM to 4 PM – 2 hours of this is his lunch break. He has like 5 – 6 vaccations every year. Because of his stupidity the company lost between 500 000 and 1 Million Dollars 3 times already. But because he started with more money then most people (rich family) he is still successful. The money compensates for his lack of talent skill and intelligence. He just throws money at the problem and at competent people to…
Sorry it's a little long, but hope it's worth it. Back in the time before cell phones, I got a job at a local grocery store. I was fairly fresh out of high school. I actually enjoyed the work, liked my co-workers and my immediate supervisor ( we'll call him Bud) He and i were close in age and we got along great. Things weren't great but i dealt with it. Until i came into work one evening (over night stock) after having a weekend off and the store manager (let's just call him Bob) called me up to the office. Bud was sat there looking like someone had just died and Bob proceeded to tell me he was going to write me up. My very first write up. YAY! I am paraphrasing as this was a long time ago. But the conversation went something like this. me: For what?…
