Lucky escape?

I've been interviewing with this company since March, after submitting my application in February; I've had a total of 7 interviews over this period, with the last one a week ago. On Friday HR arranged a teams video update with me for where I am in the process for today. They got me to dress up in my interview gear, prep ready for the call, and they just told me that I didnt get the job. And confirmed it in writing in a language I don’t speak. I'm just looking at all the time I have wasted and am thinking I have just had a lucky escape cos its starting to look that way…..

Name constantly misspelled on the schedule and board.

I don't often ask for help or outside opinions, but here goes. I am a 37 year old female and am a medical assistant and phlebotomist. My name has been misspelled on the schedule at work for pretty much the entire time I have worked there (about 8 months). I have brought it up several times in as many months that it is wrong. It is correct on my badge and paycheck. It is also correct in our work group chat. When they make the board for who is coming in at what time the next day they look at the schedule so my name is always wrong and I always fix it when I get there and in a different color so people can see their mistake. If I make the board before I leave it is always rewritten in the morning and my name will be wrong. I…

Prices in India

I'm on India visiting family. Prices here are so low on literally most everything, especially food. So many American goods are affordable even, just priced differently. 4 AAA batteries are 60c. Cost of living is quite different here. Fewer cars mean shops fit inside and under all sorts of spots. There is tons of built in competition and efficiency in shopping and intercity travel. But outside of all of this, most shit is just more affordable to people with a college education. If you ever doubt whether the price rises is us asking for more or the corporations bleeding us dry…..look around you across the world. ITS BUSINESSES IN AMERICA RAISING PRICES!

Overtime expected as volunteerwork. What do i do?

Long story short; i work half time ( 19 hours) due to chronic illness at a small independant service/neighborhood center linked to a care facility. We organise a neighborhood party with gigs in 2 weeks. All extra hours are expected to be as a volunteer. We dont register worktime in a classic way. I expect to work 1,5 day overtime. My company is currently bankrupt and in a sort of protection measurement untill some other company buys us. We don't have a time register for our working hours it's all in good trust and faith that we do our work according to contract. They try to be a progressive inclusive workspace. Since the notification of the future take over i have been taking days off because i work overtime every week. We are short staffed and sometimes i have to ” replace” 3 people and take over various tasks. This…

Friend didn’t get payed due to missing a day last week. They made two large sales

I’m wondering if anyone knows the laws about this type of payment structure. My friend quit their job on Friday, and received $0 for the week. Is there anything they can do?

Independent Contractor – Background Check and Computer Locking ?

I recently applied for a job working as an independent contractor. Turns out they want to run a background check. Also it turns out my computer I am using will be “locked” after I install their software. Seems more like an employee to me.

seeking advice about my work

i was recently promoted. of course i accepted, but it took a month for that promotion to “be in full effect” so for that month, i was unknowingly working at my past pay rate. that rubbed me the wrong way, but i didn't want to cause any issues, so i didn't say anything. i received an email from HR with the updated documents to sign, and the salary listed was different from the salary i was verbally told several times during the promotion discussions. maybe i am in the wrong here, but i felt like i deserved to know why the number had changed. i contacted the hiring manager and HR about this and did not receive a response. i reached out to the hiring manager directly for further clarity since they were in the meetings where this promotion and salary were discussed. the hiring manager responded by penciling me…
