I won’t submit my drivers license number, SSN, 10 years of previous addresses, and allow for a background check/credit check all in the hope that the recruiter and/or hiring manager contacts me. If, by some miracle, a job offer is made, then I might allow this to happen. Until then, hell no. BTW…this is for a technology position in a publicly traded company.

I work in food service, and our dress code requires black pants, which I thought I was adhering to. I'm color blind, so I struggle to differentiate between shades of colors which doesn't usually cause any issues. Yesterday our district manager came in and berated me for my pants apparently being too light to be considered black. I tried to explain to him that I'm color blind and have been wearing these pants for weeks and no one mentioned anything to me about them not being appropriate to which he responded “well it's your responsibility to ensure you're wearing the correct uniform.” I reiterated that i physically cannot differentiate certain shades of colors and he just said that that's not an excuse to break rules and walked away. Wtf?
Left a job after 3 months
I was laid-off from a big tech company last year and had been working odd-job & bartending to make it by and finally got a job in IT… making much less that a previously had been. The pay range was $20-$25, they offered $21 but considering I had applicable experience, I countered at $24, also noting that the pay did not match the high cost of living in the city I worked in. They countered back that they would give me a $1-$2 raise at a 90-day review based on performance. Two and a half months in my manager said he had good news, I wouldn’t have to wait for my raise, I would get a 3% increase…. This equates to around 60 cents an hour. I later found out this was a department wide cost of living raise that everyone in my position received. I expressed my disappointment and…
This morning I was supposed to talk with my boss about a pay raise for beingwith the company for a year. Last week my team of 7 got cut to 2, but this guy tells that it's a budget issue and nothing can be done for this quarter for a raise. It's insulting and degrading to watch 5 coworkers get blown up and be told that after cutting five full salaries there's no room for an inflation raise. I want to quit, but I need something lined up first. Job searching like crazy today.
Good luck man.
Union Voting Laws Question?
Hi, not sure where to post this other than here and maybe my local subreddit (which I would like to not do in case the subject of my post is on reddit and sees it). So I recently got hired at a place that is part of a local union. They're having voting soon for a position that I can't remember the name of, but its the person who's supposed to fight for their fellow coworkers/employees in our office, make deals on their behalf, etc (this is my first time in a union so I'm really new to all this). There's a certain number of nominees, and a certain number of that number has already been holding the position for a handful of years now, and I've heard a lot of whispers from coworkers about wanting a change. I've heard both sides in the past week and a half, one…
