Inspired by a recent post in this subreddit about their work superior making them work after their young coworker had just passed away I was reminded of that one time 4 years ago at work (I no longer work there) the supervisor called and YELLED at us for abbandoning our workplace after an earthquake shook our city and we were at the epicenter of it so it was extra violent and scary, we fleed the second floor where our office was located and went into the open skied yard and all 6 of us called close family to express our safety and intimate words, whereas that son of a bitch of a boss called our supervisor who was apparently safe at home and tell us to get the fuck back at our workplace cause the phones were bursting with calls… we worked for a very famous local pizza delivery hotline…WHO…
Your Health > Company Profits
You’ve all heard it before (I hope) but it can’t be said enough, and young people need to hear it more since they are more often the main targets to exploit. Take care of yourself. Call out “sick” and take a mental health day. You deserve it. Met with my boss yesterday to talk about why I did not get a raise/cost of living adjustment in this year’s annual review. After doing a ton of extra work that was not asked of me, and certainly not in my job description, I was told my performance was “not where we need you to be.” Cool. I wasn’t given any training in my first year, and there were no goals or target sales for me to meet. I told them it was nice to hear what was expected of me but it’s disappointing that this is the first time I am hearing…
Silent Treatment from Multiple Coworkers
I am being bullied at work for over a month now. I have multiple colleagues refusing to acknowledge me, for tasks related to work. The first coworker I witnessed violating someone’s civil rights. I was approached by a supervisor and asked to write a statement. The coworker hasn’t talked to me in probably two months and slowly the people they is close with are ignoring me too. Another colleague is in some insane power struggle to exclude me from communication. Petty shit like removing me from group chats. Management has asked her to fix it multiple times. Now they won’t acknowledge me. My job is a 5 minute walk from my house. It pays well and I generally like the work. I don’t want to quit. I know I’m probably going to leave because it’s not normal to be bullied at work. I am incredibly sad and depressed about it.…
Just quit my job and needed somewhere to vent. Me and all the other drivers at the company were running ridiculous hours. In at 4:30 AM and not off till 4-6 most days. Just enough time to get home and eat and shower and go to bed 5 days a week. No personal time. No time for anything outside of work. Needed weekends to recover mentally. Running 5-6 hours of sleep a night if I wanted any time to decompress after work. Shit is insane how people at companies are ok with employees doing this. Driving a 15 ton truck on no sleep for 12 hours a day is not safe. How do people live with allowing others to live this way? Is this where we are as a society?
The vicious cycle
I’m lucky enough to be self employed and hearing my friends work story tonight just baffles me. He’s 3wks into this new job at a factory. It’s a pretty physically demanding job but he likes all the people there so far. He says his managers have been great to him so far and they all get along. But tonight he gave him a hard time because I sat down for a couple seconds to get something out of his shoe. Nothing crazy, just being told not to do that sort of thing. But it reminded me just how fucking weird employers expectations can be. Why is standing so enforced while working? I know that you shouldn’t just take a 5er and not do your duties. But even sitting long enough to fix a shoe is punished just the same. If the work gets done, who cares. People sit, that’s what…
EEOC reviewer called
EEOC investigation began for wrongful termination due to disability discrimination. What are some strategies people use to increase the chance of EEOC ruling in the employee’s favor?
It’s not even your business
This woman who works in our department (scheduling/payment) shows up 3 HOURS before we even open every day and is ALWAYS the last to leave and the first to arrive even before the Doctors who own the place. On Friday’s she will be here and we aren’t even open. Wtf is she on?! Like seriously who in their right damn mind would give THAT much to a company who isn’t even theirs???? Apparently she’s the matriarch of the place (which is extremely annoying in itself) and has been here a few years. If I ever dedicated that much time to someone else’s business please kill me. Does she not have a life or personal time she treasures?!?!? It’s absolutely insane to me and I know I CANT BE THE ONLY ONE
