Out of curiosity. I find it interesting that the HR jobs out where I live pay basically the same as wal-mart, yet require a BA degree and often want years of experience just to be an entry level hr assistant. I can kind of understand how someone with a degree just says “screw it” and works as a waiter or at starbucks.
Month: May 2023
My job won't let us request time off more than 3 months in advance. Needless to say, this makes planning a vacation incredibly difficult and expensive, as I'm not about to buy a plane ticket before getting approval from Mommy, I mean my boss, first. The final straw was when I asked for July29 thru Aug 5 off. Instead I got a reply saying my July dates were approved but not Aug, as I have to wait until May 1st to request off August dates [wtf]. This felt really stupid to me so I asked: why a 3 month cap? Here was the reponse: Traditional most areas/companies only allow one maybe two vacations per year. If each person were limited to one or two vacations per year removing the three-month cutoff timeframe is something that could be contemplated. Approving time off must be fair and equitable. For those who do…
Heaven knows I’m miserable now…
I quit this sub when I was looking for a job because I needed motivation. I got a job, so now I'm back! Hey, Elder Antiworkers, remember that Smiths song from the ‘80s? “I was looking for a job, and then I found a job And heaven knows I'm miserable now In my life Why do I give valuable time To people who don't care if I live or die?” Seems like an appropriate anthem. Cheers!
How to claim unemployment
So I was promised, verbally, a promotion in March and still have yet to get it. Since then I've decided I'm going to move and have to get a new job when I do. My question is, until then how do I get fired and be able to claim unemployment, so I can relax while I do so?
Booked a meeting room for a nap
At my org there are several meeting rooms open for anyone to book. A few of them are quite small and stay pretty warm. Just booked one so I can take a nap. I'll appear as “Busy” on Teams and no one will bother me in that time. TTYL, going to sleep now!
Pretend to leave?
Is it a good idea to pretend to my boss that I'm leaving so that he puts my wages up? The only reason this could possibly work is because at the moment it would take a lot of time and effort to train another person.
I feel like this applies to most jobs. My company is constantly creating updates to phone software (my work involves taking a company phone wherever I go for work) that track where we are and if we're moving or not. Never NEVER doing anything to create a positive work experience.
Was hired on for full time 38 hours a week. I haven't worked less than 50 in the past year and work continues to pile up. I am being forced fed more work than can be accomplished in a 40 hour work week every week on top of the work I already am behind on. They say it is my problem to figure out. Been like this for over a year. Friday it becomes their problem. Fuck these employers. You don't own me.
