Having a coworker suddenly die really brought to attention how little corporate America actually cares about its employees. This kid was only 19 and his death was very sudden. Being as we were all incredibly fond of him, and several of the crew lived with him, we were of course pretty distraught over the whole situation. So we end up with a crew of four on what should have been a crew of eight. I called and let my district manager know we were closing the lobby and just running the drive through cause there was no way we would be able to do both with what we had. He was sympathetic and said yes of course. Then an hour later I got a call from him. He's spoken with his boss and they have determined, “we still have a business to run,” and demanded that we open the lobby…

Im quitting today!
I’m quitting my job today after almost two years of being treated like trash. I got a new job I start in two weeks but the thought of working here for two more weeks makes me feel physically sick. Im putting on my notice at the end of the day effective immediately and never looking back. Fuck this job for real good luck to them as well because now the therapist will be the only person here because the front desk person has been training for weeks. Of course I had to cover and when I asked for additional training they denied me!!! So fuck this and fuck them im leaving to live my best life
A step in the right direction but many in the industry still can't call in sick. Hope the activists and unions keep turning over rocks and exposing these greedy corporations until they win reasonable working conditions!
I saw this article on my LinkedIn feed and it made me question my expectations regarding benefits: https://brightmatterhr.com/knowledge-centre/blogs/do-your-benefit-plans-lineup-with-what-your-employees-want/ I've been applying to jobs for about 3 months now and I'm seeing a ton of companies offer poor benefits plans or in most cases, no benefits at all. The last time I was searching for work, the majority of the jobs I applied for had semi-decent plans. Has there been a dramatic shift over the past few years?
I’m a long-time r/antiwork member, and share the same frustrations as you guys in regards to deteriorating socioeconomic condition of the United States. Unfortunately, our growingly obsolete Constitution is simply incapable of handling issues like corporate lobbying, the electoral college, and gun control. Like you, I’m sick of complaining and nothing actually getting done. That’s why I’m aiming for a realistic, material goal of ratifying a new Constitution by starting a liberal movement among the general public and someday make it the biggest talking point in our elections. The subreddit is in it’s very early days, but I hope it can become a discussion place for the kinds of values that should inform the new constitution, and the starting place for the next democratic revolution, and ACTUAL change. It’s here: r/New_Constitution with the tree background. Thanks
I did a three-round job interview sequence at a company that I really admire. All the conversations went incredibly well, and I think that my education and experience make it an ideal fit for me. However, my last interview for them was in mid-March. About three weeks ago, I got an email from the HR coordinator who set up the interviews that my application is “still in good standing” but did not elaborate further on what is going on. I haven't heard from them, and the job is still posted on their “careers” page. Any advice for what to do? I feel like I'm going nuts checking my email for updates.
