Yet Corporate doesn't seem to understand this, they constantly send out snarky e-mails implying that our team is just incompetent, while completely ignoring the fact that the facility has been running with an underpaid skeleton crew for the past 6 months. They are even paying employees from other facility's flights and room and board, just for them to come and “mentor” us for a couple weeks. It's getting so bad that they are considering closing the facility down. My question is this, won't they lose MORE profit from the facility closing down, than if they just gave their lowest employees (the backbone of the entire facility) a raise? People would be lining up in droves for this job if it paid a bit more, and the understaffing issue would go away quickly. How do you make it to corporate levels without understanding these things?

So I got hired as FOH staff for a bar I adore, I’m told last Wednesday Saturday (earlier today) and Sunday are my training shifts. Future shifts TBD. First shift went great lots of positive feedback, todays second training shift was just 12-5 which was pretty slow. Tomorrow is supposed to be a call time of “1pm-4pm depending on how busy” until walking out the bar today I was told that if it’s super super dead during an expected busy day they will just not have me come In because “I’m all staffed up” Here are my issues 1) I’m training / helping not sharing any tip pools why does my extra body matter, especially if I stay out the way? 2)the owner and GM that decided he might cut me from Sunday don’t seem to be communicating at all, I was hired by owner. 3)am I wrong to be…
As the title states I have a work accommodation that allows me to earbuds at work. I'm Autistic with ADHD. They are not tied to my phone's Bluetooth. I don't listen to music and most days I only need one bud to get through my shift. I can still hear customers and coworkers. I use it to drown put the background noise such as the in store radio and hum of the florescent lights. The buds fit within my ears and are barely noticeable due to my long hair covering them. My boss has honored my accommodation with no problem. My coworkers could care less. However a new assistant manager recently started working at the store. She's been with the company for 30ish years and came in with a stick up her ass. Shortly after she came to the store I work at the store manager had to leave due…
Many years ago I work at a cinema where I was given the official uniform that include black combat trousers with the logo. It was great because it had pockets unlike the norm of female black trousers. I could keep my little notepad of notes and a watch (couldn't wear watch). A few days after combat black trousers were banned… Asked if included official ones too… Next day the answer was yes. So anyone else had something similar with official uniforms?
So ends 2 years of service at a miniature games company. And a reminder these companies don't give a fuck about you, you can give it 120% but if they could save a penny by getting rid of you, they will. So value yourself way above them. My brother passed away last month, and the assholes couldn't even wait until after the funeral to pull this. If it wasn't insulting enough to eliminate the position, they wanted the 2 people it affected to grovel in a interview for a new position that had all their old responsibilities and a ton of new ones for no extra money. Our generation will not be allowed to retire, so just do the bare minimum to get through it. Use the documentary “office space” as a guide
Hey, so I'm not too certain what I want to accomplish here, though I would like to get more perspectives on this situation. (this is a work-related struggle, but idk if it fits this sub) So, I've tried to quit my job for the past few months, since February 10th (when I submitted my two weeks). Now, I am a HUGE sucker for helping people and being courteous to the people around me. This has unfortunately landed me in the position that I am in now. As in February I was talked into staying at this place, as it would be considered good for my career path, also because the owner would told me that he would not be able to replace me within the two weeks of notice. To clarify what I did, My title was Office Manager, of a smaller health clinic that focused on physical therapy, exercise…
Tldr: what are your opinions on the best practice for paying “farm” help a fair, living wage for work performed? I've been utterly confused by and questioned why workers are treated the way they are since I was a teenager (I'm 36 now). Watching my dad have to go to work bent at a 45 degree angle from back pain, and then experiencing people coming to work with flu symptoms at a nursing home (my first job) completely boggled my brain. Then I called put a few times at various employers due to injury and illness and, well, you all know how that went. I've been jaded, cynical, and fed up with American business practices for a long time. I slogged through it as best I could until 2015. Long story short, health issues prevent me from performing the jobs I have experience for, and any ability I had to…
Notice for last day working
I put my resignation on a Thursday about a month out. I chose my last day in the middle of the week on Wednesday. Our schedule goes out all the way to Fridays. My boss asked me if I made a mistake putting my last day on a Wednesday. They asked if I was going to work the rest of the week for which I was scheduled. I’m a bit dumbfounded of this question. Is this a cause for giving me a bad reference for future employment?
