I'm trying to build a case here, but they recently implemented an IT rule that blocks any outgoing email to a personal or external account. Basically, working too long without lunch breaks, expecting employees to work for comp days, no overtime, etc. I'm thoroughly frustrated and disgruntled and not sure how to proceed.
So, I was offered a career opportunity in the kitchen at our county jail. It's a great gig with amazing benefits and pay. I would be stupid not to take the opportunity. I talked to my boss' mom two days ago, to try to guage how I should break the news, and get some advice. She said I obviously need to take the job. And I did. I told my boss yesterday in a long, heart felt letter. For more background info, I was told I'd get a raise and promotion after I got my servsafe Manager certification. That was back in November of 2022. It never happened. I had actively been begging my boss for more hours for the last 6 months and every time I told her I was struggling, she would say “yeah but I don't want you to be stuck at work all the time.” Or…

Other coworker (Jesus freak) pipes up and starts going on about how “no one wants to work” and we need to secure our borders to “keep the illegals out” because they're taking all the work. Unemployment in my state is lower than it's been since 2006. You need to be paying more. Fucking religious people, dude. I hate it here.
