Hey y’all, I was wondering if anyone could help me understand the minimum shift requirements in NYS. Back when I worked for a corporate restaurant this used to be a big deal, but as I am now working for a coffee shop I wasn’t sure if this still applied to us. I know the hospitality industry has some other stipulations regarding minimum pay and tipped pay, but as an untipped worker I’m not sure if I’ve been getting ripped off on any shifts less than 4 hours.
Month: July 2023
I work in a call center for fast food. I hate it. I can’t afford to quit lately I’ve just been taking off work randomly so I don’t start screaming. I know life isn’t fair but this feels less than fair. I have a job that pays $17/hr but I can’t afford a decent apartment, car and healthcare. I hate it here so much.
I work at a smaller e-commerce business in the states, our larger company is overseas. I am the office admin so I’m taking care of a lot of things no one else deals with, (ex. Stocking the kitchen with drinks, ordering office supplies, helping out when computers crash, random jobs around the office etc.) everyone else has different positions relating straight to the product we are selling. Everyone treats me with such disrespect it’s actually disheartening, I’ll slack (instant message) them a question, needing an answer to something important and no one responds, when i ask them in person they grunt me off and say they’ll get to it…in a way where it seems like I’m bothering them. It’s hurtful, quite irritating and is making me discouraged to continue trying to do my job… i come to work with a positive attitude and I’m very kind to everybody so I’m…
16 years experience and jobless
I have so much experience but they ask how much I want and (this just happened) they actually countered my offer with 9.50/hr (US). I left immediately and I think they were still talking but I wasn't about to sit there and be insulted. I've worked at restaurants (not fast food) my whole life. Mostly as a cook but I've done everything.
My work from home position is requiring we put on cameras for meetings because the bosses are lonely. What outfits should I wear that won't get me fired but will make them decide to stop the shenanigans? Most of my coworkers have these jobs because we are physically ill people and dressing up everyday is ridiculous. Not to mention I may own one professional outfit after 3 years of being wfh.
Don’t work hard for any job.
I was a workaholic working 20-40hours non-paid overtime for several jobs. We're talking about “important” jobs like managing a health program for the DoD. I took pride in my job because I actually saved lives. But in the end, none of it mattered. I still got canned because of some stupid ass HR rule and one disgusting, useless POS of a program manager wanted me gone because I cared that people died on my watch. Blah blah blah I have been unemployed for months and its been hard to find jobs. I wasted my prime years on a fucking job that no one cares about. Dont work hard, you will not get recognized for it…maybe punished.
