After 6 months of unemployment I finally signed a job offer. I was so happy to finally get out of this shitty situation. And then they told me I'd have to pass a drug test within 3 days. Never had to do that for any of my previous employers, so not something I would expect. They're testing for cannabis. I take drops maybe twice a months during nights I just can't fall asleep. I'm in a state where its legal, but it doesnt mayter because it's not legal on a federal level or something like that. Took an at home drug test last night, came up positive. Test is due tomorrow. Guess I'm fucked for having anxiety related sleep issues. Ironically I couldn't sleep knowing all this last night and really wanted to take the drops, but didn't in hoping that maybe tomorrow the test won't be positive. I want…

Could really use some help
First of all, I highly suspect I have ADHD, and heard this might be a symptom, idk if it matters in any way, maybe you guys know something about this too I cannot work and I need help I cannot bring myself to do the work I am required to do. I thought its about a gaming addiction, bust I managed to stop that just fine. I will do whatever I can, but not work. I read, I workout, and these past days since i stopped with the games thinking that is an addiction and thats why I dont work, my apartment is extremely clean because I cleaned every single place, every corner. But I cannot do the work. And right now, one of my colleagues is asking for some work of mine. And I am so scared and stressed because I cannot give her all of it (did like…
Sick days count as vacation days?
Does anyone elses work do this? I joined a new job in April which came with 13 days of vacation a year standard before ETO. I was planning on using these vacation days in August/September, since I just arrived and essentially didn’t want to request them too soon. Every other job I’ve worked, calling out sick did not affect vacation days. I have had some callouts due to mental/physical illness this year and was surprised when I finally approached my supervisor today about scheduling vacation, he said a “new policy” mixes sick and vacation days. I heard NOTHING about this ever and now am told I have three days left for the work year for vacation now. I don’t even have enough days to roll into the new year now and have anything left over. What the fuck? Is this a regular thing or am I being fucked over corporately?…
So yesterday I spoke with my agency about my 2 weeks notice I put in. I’m a contract employee in a professional setting. The company culture is actually pretty nice here. Although I considered they would let me go after putting in my notice, it was something as a courtesy. My contact for the agency gave me the heads up that I’ll be let go when they inform them of my notice. They said they would notify them by mid day today. I’ve never had a meeting before where I was let go. I’m guessing that since I’m not employed by this company that they don’t have to worry about unemployment. This fuels the idea that companies don’t need notice. Unless you need the reference just leave. This may be common practice in a B2B setting as a contractor but it still leaves a bitter taste.
Not allowed to use my own benefits
I asked off for my 30th birthday in 2 weeks. My boss immediately denied the request and said I haven't been working long enough to ask off. When I was hired I was told I have 80 hours available from hire date. I'm now convincing my other co-workers to call in on August 4th. So there will be nobody there on a Friday. So far all but 1 are on board.
My supervisor
My supervisor removed me from all of my off line duties and put me back on phones. I think they are about to fire me.
HR isn’t your friend
Hello and welcome to your friendly reminder that HR works for the company and most likely will not support you. To keep a long, painful story easy to digest, I'm keeping things short(er). I know it still ended up being a bit lengthy. I worked in self storage with a big company for about 5 years. The first 4 were great and I was doing great. My opportunity came that I would be able to live on site, in a much bigger property than I had run previously and in a bad area. It was framed to me that I would be able to move on to another site if I was doing well. I found a dead body on property about two months after I started. What had already been a tumultuous start, having transferred at the beginning of rental season and with checked out help, just was the…
And immediately follows it up with “that was the hardest point in MY life”, and starts going on and on about his personal difficulties at the time. He’d previously started this company with a huge loan from his parents, tale as old as time.
Looking at flight attendant positions and saw this from SW. Is it really legal to put this in there? I'm not butt hurt because I think I'm ugly, but the thought of some troll looking me up and down to decide if I'm “proportionate” enough makes me want to vom. Under the sanction of the company.
I interviewed with a local manufacturing plant. Employer took me on a tour and showed me the water bath that helps cool down the pressed metal. The water bath kind of splashed up and got him soaked. He then says “ugh! I just love getting wet!” And then laughed for way too long. Now, I laugh at anything stupid and uncomfortable. So , I laugh because I want the situation to just stop, but I laugh for the rest of the interview. He looked pissed. When I walked out I already have decided it’s a lost cause. If he just didn’t say that dumb comment I would have held my shit together. Oh well, hope someone else got to laugh at this too.
