Hello, To start off, I have not enjoyed my summer internship. It’s at a small company and I was thrown in the deep end from the first day. Unfortunately, my manager doesn’t seem to like me, even though I interact with him regularly and try to lighten the mood with jokes. It appears he holds some negative views about Gen Z kids, thinking they’re entitled and self-centered. For instance, when I requested to work later one day due to a dentist appointment, he responded by saying, “You need to learn that the world doesn’t revolve around you.” Since then, I’ve refrained from asking for time off and have even canceled some appointments. With that out of the way, I have still been getting my work done. I’m given many projects to make drafts, do design work, etc. On top of that, I was given my own reverse engineering project for…

I want to make a Glassdoor company page for my company so I can leave them a negative review and hopefully warn new employees before it’s too late and they get stuck here. I’m trying to write a review, but the company isn’t on Glassdoor and it won’t create it when I publish my review. Also, is there a limit to what you can say on your review? I want to mention that the owner is a huge racist, sexist, homophobe, and transphobe but I feel like my review will get reviewed if I mention those things. For example, he once told the company that he met a woman at a work conference that had a perfect voice for phone sex. He also judges interviewees based on how attractive he finds them. I feel like potential new employees should know this stuff.
Tired of working PM shifts.
Title. Exhausted doing PM shifts, getting over it. At first I thought it was awesome, but then I've come to realize it sucks (been doing it for a year). Sure, there are benefits with the extra loading pay and the people I work with are cool, but I'm getting tired over this. I asked for a switch to AM and got denied, because; “apparently” too many people have switched over to AM and that “I'm valuable and my supervisor said he will have no one in the PM shift & I should ask again in 2-3 months time.” – I told them about my situation, about wanting to study part-time as well. My shift is 2PM to 10PM, so yeah, I'm missing out on a whole lot of stuff in life too. Contemplating about resigning and finding another job. What would you do if you were in my situation?
This is what a union can get you
this is in the most expensive (or one of) in the world. 36k is chump change, I don't know how the heck anyone could survive in this city on that (Vancouver Canada). not to mention being available at any moment, and 'able to do personal errands', NOT having a real estate license, and picking up and dropping off the actual agent. lol https://preview.redd.it/g45t788q35eb1.png?width=1803&format=png&auto=webp&s=08bd766b209f104715682725c401bd70c75b356a
What’s my best course of action here?
I work for a 'small' construction business that's actually a national franchise. There's so many things to complain about that I don't even know where to start. All of the time-keeping for our hours is done on paper, and I noticed shortly after getting hired that the times didn't add up with what I was keeping track of for my own record. I noticed that 8 and a half hours for example, was being written down as 8.3 hours, instead of 8.5 hours. Or 9 hours 45 minutes calculated as 9.45 hours. It seemed like an honest mistake, but I couldn't help but feel like the owner was too smart to not notice the mistake week after week, and I'm not sure how long it had been being done that way before I called it out. Recently, they tried to suggest that we take half pay for our forced…
In my current position there are a lot of things that come up that aren't covered in the official training. The person who is between me and the supervisor says any questions just ask. Better to get it done correctly than have it come back. I totally agree and an cool with this part. The problem is every time I ask a question the email comes back with the answer and always ccs my supervisor on it. So basically its 'Ask any question and I'll answer it and let the boss know that you asked me a question.' Has the feeling of tattling on me. Is there something I'm missing?
Hi guys, I am looking for feedback on my situation. I landed a job in a small town I moved to in may. I have Barista experience as well as a bit of manager experience from a previous job. The job I landed is at a cafe that was closed for the winter, I guess everyone went to school last fall, and business was dry in the winter(its a Summer tourist town here). I was the person who fired up the cafe, I implemented the square PoS system, and got the machines up and running. Though I am not a “manager” I do all the scheduling, spreadsheets, logging hours, inventory… I even programmed a menu board in a TV. My boss/the owner runs a fashion store next door, shes back and forth, always complaining about staffing issues, always on edge, angry, theres a camera in the cafe, she spies on…
Time tracking…
My company is requiring us to track our workload and time spent on tasks for the next two months. I’m trying to figure out what to track as I hardly have any responsibilities on my plate right now. Any advice / ideas would be appreciated. I want to look reasonably busy but not too much that it seems exaggerated.
Basically the title. After putting in my 2-weeks last week, I was told that I can no longer use my phone at work, or be alone in workspaces, or send emails unless given prior approval. This is all to cover the potential possibilities that I or anyone else who is quitting, might steal/leak company items or information. On paper, I understand the idea, but at the same time, I have put in four and a half years at this job. Why is the trust suddenly gone just because I am not committed to working there forever now? If I was going to do something stupid enough like throwing away my career for stealing something or emailing documents, I would have done it before they had all eyes on me, so this policy is more for show or punishment than actually solving a potential problem. I'm only doing this to “do…
