I work at a giant company, bigger than pizza planet in Toy Story. One lady, let’s call her Kanye, has personally been the reason why 2 people have quit, one person demanded they get transferred and 4 more not respect anything she does. Today while in a team meeting, Kanye arrived late, assigned somebody who was already overloaded with a new task and bypassed somebody who was asking for work. Then she left. I was talking to those 4 people mentioned above later and they have already disregarded what she had said and organized everything the way it should’ve been. They told me why they didn’t respect her… 1, she has 500 days written on her cube until she can retire at 55. 2, she has told them they she doesn’t want to do anything hard until retirement. 3, nobody will question her logic. 4, she makes double what they…

$17.50/hr but unsafe sanitation at work
Caregiving, is it worth sticking around here you think? I regularly get overtime (unplanned though), but this week we just had Norovirus for half the residents (I even just got over it have never been so miserable in my LIFE) Questionable sanitation practices and unsafe staffing practices make me want to jump ship but had such a hard time finding work last time. I drive 1.5 hrs each way
So I work as a union subcontractor that works seasonal industrial shutdowns. I work March-Sept and I have my winters off and usually a month in the summer. The pay is great and I have a great work/life balance. Because I work temporary shutdowns I will go to an industrial plant for 4-8 weeks and I’ll get laid off after the work is complete and I’ll join my unions out of work list and repeat the process for about 6 months until I get to hibernate in the winter. The problem I face every single time I finish a job is when I tell my family and friends what I’m up to (just got my layoff, probably gonna hang out for a couple weeks before the next one) they act like I’m either the laziest human they’ve ever met or that I’m desperate for work, even though I do alright…
Being paid more than agreed on
Hello, So someone close to me recently moved. The company decided to keep him as an employee & just have him work in the new region. So still with the company just in a different region now. Before moving manager was saying he will be paid less in the new region. That since cost of living is lower in new region pay will be lower hourly but better commissions. Nothing was signed, just verbal. Friend basically started over at new region (they had to fill out a new tax form) and recently realized he is still getting old region hourly pay. My question is, legal if this is a mistake on the company part, is he legally going to be required to pay it back if they discover it down the line? It has been a couple of months now. Thank you!
Office temp feezing
Vent. F 50 It's summer in Maine, but the temperature in the office is like December. I'm freezing. My nose runs from the cold. I wear sweaters and layering clothing INSIDE at my desk. Why? Because the men like it that cold. Need compromise help.
I've worked from home for 5 of the last 6 years. I have been offered a job where I'm required to come into the office and work in person for a minimum of 6 months before the company will even consider a hybrid role. >90% of the job is virtual. The majority of the office is fully remote or hybrid and so the office is a ghost town. Most meetings are virtual because no one is in the office. I just have to come in for reasons. I know many people are in similar boats- I just wanted to bounce it to the void- do I tough this out for 6 months and see where it goes? Or look for a job that trusts me as an adult human capable of doing a job. It feels insulting, but not sure if I'm just being a princess because of my previous…
Gave my boss an ultimatum today
I'm a preschool teacher for a private center. The owner called me 5 months ago after hearing that I was unhappy where I was and asked me to work for her. I have over a decade in the field and have a good reputation. She told me that she needed me to come in and model what a good teacher looks like and train the staff. It's been an absolute disaster. The co- teacher is downright awful to the kids. Yells at them, grabs them, uses “mean girl” talk towards them, and is all around negative. I've tried modeling positive interactions and behaviors. I've dove trainings. I've tried slowly changing some things in the classroom and the schedule but the co- teacher refuses to do anything and the aide is picking up on her bad habits. Lately the director noticed that I've become the common enemy for a few staff…
