I hot assaulted tonight at work.

Long story short, a client assaulted me by attempting to punch me but I blocked her , so she hit me on the upper arms. We called the cops after two of my coworkers had to restrain her after she tried to punch them and bite one of them. It's been a lot. Our manager was more concerned with doing paperwork than checking in on us.

75% quit rate on a job

Recently transferred to (and then quit) a job at a big hospitality chain, I can't say much about it but I worked surveillance over primarily the casino side of things. I was one of 4 hired at the time for whqt was seen as a highly desired job from outside the role. It paid really well, but the learning curve was intense as well as working 2×12 hour day shifts followed by 2×12 hour night shifts with 4 days off afterwards. It wrecked my body switching from days to nights so quickly and after about 3 weeks 3 of the new hires had already quit. I lasted just under 3 months before I failed a very strict assessment during the first night shift of the cycle. They basically sat me down and said they were paying me to the end of the 2 week pay cycle but I'd have to…

Rainy Days!

Ugh! Rainy days make me feel so lazy; all I want to do is lay down on the bed all day and night, watch some movies, and enjoy some chips and soda. However, reality kicks in when I remember I have bills to pay, so I better get up and start taking care of them!

Seniority Culture = Good work is irrelevant

I work at a place where seniority reigns supreme. The issue, at least to me, is it fosters a toxic and poor culture. It makes good work irrelevant. I have always tried my hardest to do a good job as I believed that hard work would pay off in the form of promotions, privileges, or advanced responsibilities. Which never happens in a seniority cultured workplace. I have seen some pretty terrible co-works come in and do just enough to not get fired. Then once they have a high level of seniority apply for what we call “special duty positions” where they receive more opportunities, more privileges, more time off (guaranteed every weekend and holiday), and almost zero supervision. They will hide in this position for years until they retire doing almost nothing. When I asked why one of these “special positions” was able to just not do their job, and…

Manager talks badly about me behind my back

Hi everyone, I just wanted to get this off my chest as I have no one else to talk to about this. For context, I am a university student who took an internship offer at a telecom company. I am working in a technical role with a slightly atypical educational background; this becomes relevant later on. Before taking this internship, my experiences have mostly been in the public sector, where things are unionized and in my experience, where people are not so cold-hearted. I don't know if this has made me more outspoken towards negative workplace behaviour, but regardless, I am being branded as deceitful and incompetent for no apparent reason. I should have seen the red flags with my manager at the beginning of the internship. When I originally interviewed, the company advertised the role as a flexible hybrid with 2 days in-person that was not enforced. Despite this,…

Lost half my hours for no reason

My boss texted me and said I was only working 2 days a week, starting this week. No context, no explanation. Just that. Been working there almost 3 years. I know she wants me to quit. It's bullshit.

“Competitive wages”

So, i just got an article recommended on my Facebook, that states Giant Eagle locations throughout the city of Columbus are hosting a Hiring event advertising “competitive wages”, my first thought is it’s probably going to be only 11 an hour like every other company that claims to be “competitive” that i’ve worked for. I do intend to visit a location on the day of the event to ask, and i will report my findings as an update to this post, but i highly doubt that the wage is truly competitive since they don’t blatantly state the offer in the article. https://www.10tv.com/mobile/article/money/business/giant-eagle-market-district-hiring-event/530-d628a8b7-a42e-4ef8-b117-baca6befad8b Edit, why do they advertise as Competitive when it sure as fuck isn’t? And how is that not legally false advertising? That’s what i want to know

Personal improvement plan- or how can play them as they played me

Hi all! I was announced last friday by the manager above my manager, that my work performance has been chaotic, with ups and downs and that I would need to get work on a personal improvement plan with them. This is mostly due to the fact that I taken up a lot of extra workload with NO extra pay, didnt complain about it or asked for help when I ended up overwhelmed, and I'm pretty sure it's also due to me opening up to them about going through a lot with my mental health recently because they said they were aware of the issues I'm going through but it's no excuse. Ok. 🙂 Let's do this then- I plan on taking full advantage of the PIP they have graciously offered me so that I can give back all the extra workload I've gathered, again, with no compensation. I went from…

Love the work but hate the job

Well, I am not sure if this happens to other tech people, but I love getting tasks and doing them, and I don't fail those. However, what I absolutely hate is dealing with abolute dumb managers, knows nothing at all colleagues, and compnay policy to “teach” others and “share” with others, so when we get rid of you we are not at a disadvantage. I can do without all that . I'd rather a mail came with the job description , I submit, get a response with issues, respond and so on. To hell with these mind numbing meetings, politics and rest of the rot.
