I work at a mid-sized tech company not in the US. Every two weeks there is an all-company meeting which starts an hour earlier then my normal hours (which are flexible and I chose what's more comfortable for me). And they tell everything the departments accomplished in two weeks, how many more users and money (in percentage) the company has and what are the plans. But I don't give a d! It's all white noise to me. All I care about is them paying me on time. I do my job properly and that's it. I don't have a share in this company and have to fight with them for a raise. They even cut all the budgets like education, transportation etc. Lucky us they still have the health insurance. Am I a bad worker or something? Do I need to care about their statistics?
working for a delivery
I m20 started a new job to earn some pocket money at the beginning of this year. At the beginning it was ok since the company expanded in my area and there wasn’t much to do. It was a company delivering meds to people and I went by bike. They didn’t give me a bicycle as their ad for the job stated neither did we really have a hub to stay in. Instead we had to use our own bikes and often waited outside while not delivering stuff. We were like 4 people at shifts which was fine. But then they fired a lot of people, cut our shifts and just made people doing shifts alone. They often did this on evening shifts which were more crowded while also expanding the area we delivered by a ridiculous amount of time. So one day I had to work alone for the…
Government Supervisor.
I work for the government in the social service field. There’s 4 other supervisors, three of whom are amazing. One however, is a Fuc*king shit. Our team is so underpaid for their work and following federal procedures can be a tad confusing for a lot of our staff. Our main job as supervisors is to dumb down the process/ policies, manage the workload, audit the work, and distribute the work as evenly as possible. The lord decided to test my patience this week, leaving me alone with the one shitty supervisor & 40 case managers. It’s Thursday, and the last three days, she’s done absolutely nothing but sit in her office , unresponsive to emails and calls. Looks like I’m stuck with her alone next week as well. I just put in emergency paid leave. It annoys me to hell, that you work as a supervisor, but you do absolutely…
i left my position in a local comm hosp about 5 years ago. We were the very small outpatient surgical dept called endoscopy – basically if a hollow organ needed to be 'telescoped' they were sent to our dept. We were all registered nurses educated/trained in advanced sedation, a few techs & 1 RN manager all overseen by a Gastroenterologist doc with a rotating group of surgeons/pulmologists requesting & using blocks of time. The issues we had with this dept were as follows: one surgeon didnt follow protocol by NOT doing a complete colonoscopy and not spending enuf time searching for Ca ( protocol mandated that the scope reach/touch the cecum and take 6+ minutes to exit the colon- this surgeon complied with neither). Another newish surgeon was horrible at scoping – she just couldnt negotiate the scope adequately around all the curves of the colon and often took 3…
What is US “unemployment”?
I read a lot of threads on here that say to file for unemployment but what does that actually mean? In the UK you get next to nothing as employment benefit. Is this one social security net that the US has right? I never see anyone type “but unemployment benefits won’t pay the bills”
Hi All, hoping for some genuine advice/ opinions on something that’s happening currently. I’ll try to give some context. I’ve (m27) been struggling in life atm, family members getting ill and needing care etc. A friend I know through sport got talking with me about work and he mentioned he might be able to help me get a better paying job if I sent a CV his way. My current job doesn’t pay particularly well but I work with nice people and I’m good at it (it involves analytics and data handling) I updated my CV and sent it over and a few days later my Nan died, we had her funeral and then a few days after that my Grandad passed away too. I got an email from someone that same day (Friday evening) who had been put in contact with me by said friend above asking to meet…
How much stupid can fit in one person?
Loser degree thumper manager
When I was fresh out of high school, I worked as a transporter for the radiology department of a local hospital. Each modality (CT Scan, MRI, Ultrasound) had its own manager, and a director who oversaw all the managers. Anyway, we got a new CT supervisor, and from the get go, he came in with a “I’m the new sheriff in town” attitude and rubbed just about everyone in the department the wrong way. In addition, he was extremely ambitious and made no secret about having his sights set on the director position. His method for making a name for himself was by constantly undermining the other managers and meddling with all of the workers in each modality, especially the transporters. He was constantly leaving his own department to make rounds to check on what we were doing and report any of us who had down time and weren’t using…
