Not sure how common this is but I was fired from my job on my third day. It was an entry-level position and I made it very clear I had no experience in several interviews and was assured they would train me. Got a phone call while driving in saying my employment was terminated for “not following procedure”, even though the entire time I was there with an experienced employee and nobody said a word to me lol. So it's impossible that's the reason I was fired. The best part is the lady who called me thanked me for being “cool about this”, like she wanted me to get mad over the phone just so she could hear my reaction. I've never been fired from a job before let alone in 3 days of employment. Can't file for unemployment unfortunately since I was only there for 3 days so now…

The US is facing a fertility crisis and instead of addressing the social and economic issues the US government decided to limit access abortion to force the poorest people in the poorest states to have kids. Of course there is a religious and political aspect to this issue as well but I’m nearly talking about how this might be linked to the last of workers. I work at a grocery store in the seafood dept. Came in right as they were going from local to selling to a conglomerate. Been here almost two years with a great record of performance. The guy”above” me has been there 10 years, is from Uganda but is very conservative and very racist. We have a unit to steam food, he makes black people pay for the food before he will steam it, but will do it for white people no questions asked. Also has made derogatory comments about gay people. I'm bi and do my best to shake it off. About two months ago I told the hiring manager I had issues working with him, didn't want to file any complaint because I knew how important he was to production. I checked in two weeks ago and didn't get much, then two days ago i asked what was up.…

I've been around the block a few times. I know HR isn't our friend, I hate toxic workplace culture, most jobs are obsolete. All that being said, when I started my job in 2022 I really enjoyed it – and not just in a simp-y way. For me, my gauge for a job is asking myself, “how do I feel on my way to work?” – In other jobs I would get physically sick the closer I got to the office because I hated it so much. In my current role, I enjoyed it – I actually had a good boss, good team, etc. Until the department head retired, and my boss left. Now the person who replaced them is absolutely terrible. Today, I got a text from my boss with short video. It's a footage of me cleaning the floor. He sent this footage and accused me “were you cleaning those tiles not properly?” (The footage contained that I was only cleaning the 1/3 floor that is close to gate.) I politely stood up for myself like “I clean the entire floor and I clean the area around the door again when I finish it because it gets dirty due to footprints.” Then he acted like nothing happened without a simple apology for his false accusation. The thing that creeped me out is he was watching me over security camera to make gotcha moment. Of course every store has security cameras. I'm aware of that.
