So, about 5 weeks ago I told my boss my mental health wasn’t the greatest lately. I had recently lost my mom very suddenly from cancer, mixed with a big family event coming up would’ve been the first family event since she passed. I was trying to be honest with my workplace as it was/is a very hard time; I was talking to a psychologist/counsellor and just trying to get to a better place mentally. My boss called me into his office the next week with a supervisor to discuss what the situation was and what was happening. They told me they completely understand and all that jazz. I was forthcoming, and told them basically if I just seem a off or if there’s something I missed at work that was the reason. Both my super manager and supervisor both seemed very helpful at the time. Fast forward a week,…
Month: July 2023
Downsized and 7 months unemployed.
My previous workplace downsized and sent my job to Armenia for some non-English speaking turd can work for less money. Now I'm sitting here applying for jobs for 7 months with barely any interviews. I just want someone to just randomly shoot me through my window.
Please read this entire post before you judge I started working at popeyes today. This day was the single most stressful day of my entire life. -Today was supposed to be training, but there was barely any training. I literally had to learn how to do shit by myself basically. -My shift is also part time, is 11-8 a part time shift? (I'm still in HS so school is in 1 week) -My manager still hasn't given me any info on uniforms. She hasn't even told me my hourly salary yet. I would ask her, if I'd been able to actually talk with her at all. -The store is severely understaffed. They literally have to keep the front doors locked so nobody comes in the lobby because they don't have front cashiers, everyone comes through the drive thru. -She didn't clock me in at all, I didn't know because it's…
“Quit” my job yesterday
I started this job back in December and for this job you get paid based on the job you have and how fast you get qualified for the job. Basically base pay starts at $23 an hour and the position I had was going to pay $27.50 once I got qualified. However to get qualified for my job I had to have a Trainer who said I did well enough at the job to get the qualified pay, people on this job usually get qualified in about six weeks (from what my Trainer had said). Anyway once I started my Trainer said I was doing well enough to get the qualified pay after about a month but he wasnt going to qualify me yet because I wasn't quite ready yet but he later quit along with my supervisor. After they had quit I was later told I wasn't going to…
“Sales Associate” position, turned “Outside Sales Rep” after an hour-long impromptu phone interview. The owner is requiring that I complete a personality test to be considered for a formal interview. Still no mention of anticipated pay or hourly rate; no thanks, I'm good.
How many people busted their asses to become a manager just so they'd be able to bully others with impunity? Do you ever wonder that? So many of these little tin gods hate themselves and are too cowardly to fix that, so they need to take it out on their juniors at work. And for some reason, we have decided our culture should be set up to flatter and benefit this strata of douche-bag over most other people. It's nuts!

I’m the Boss
Hey friends. A few weeks ago I posted here about accepting a new job and bringing it to my current employer to see if they’d counter (they didn’t.) Since I’ve accepted the job, I move Monday, and start Tuesday. For a little discretion I’m the owners right hand. He & his wife just had their first born so I’ve been trusted to run things. I realize that makes me “boss” which is a word I hate. Very thankful for the opportunity & the pay. I just want to set up the right culture (which takes time.) I’m needing some advice here on how to do well as a boss. I’ve managed before, and I like developing relationships, shooting for goals, and celebrating our wins legitimately. I value people for who they are not what they can “give” I’m really far from a corporate guy. That’s largely the reason why I…
Got fired for medical marijuana
Title is the story. Was only there for 3 days. Yes I’m a patient. Employer was already suited for it. I did contact an advocate. They never got back to me.
