How YOU can support the strike wave
The DSA's Strike Ready 2023 campaign provides the tools for you to join the resurgent labor movement that our paternalistic employers insist is “just a phase.” You don't have to be a member of the DSA or a union to participate. Together, we can support UPS workers as they bring the good fight to their tyrannical employer, and we can be there for the other great battles that are soon to come! Is this something that just happens? To me paying $25 and not even seeing a doctor seems like robbery at that point. (Sorry if this is the wrong sub for this, but r/medicine didn’t allow me to post this.)
Fired from job (6 months)
So I was fired from my job that I have been at for 6 months. Was hell ever since I got there. No communication, no real training process. Actually my first time being fired! Mixed feeling part of me is glad it is over! I quickly talked to an employee in the department as I was leaving. She basically agreed with what I had said!
I have worked at a veterinary hospital for over 2 years, started as a CSR and worked my way up to Director of Client Services. I was used during this time, to essentially fire the practice manager. I was called into meeting to address some complaints about her, and was really used as leverage to push her out. Then some of her tasks were divided up and given to me. I was working diligently, but becoming increasingly burnt out. I was also feeling really weird about being used. In addition to the new tasks, there came the insanity of the practice owner. I saw this man pay more attention to a downed tree branch than someone sending the wrong insulin home. He talks in circles, he can't make a decision. He'll write you crazy notes about he wants everything changed, you'll change it and he spirals about how its not…
(Long post, I’m sorry) My employer forces me to work in conditions that I did not agree with upon hiring. I’m a social worker of sorts. They force me to do unpaid work from home, work in excessive heat without air conditioning and do not have any breaks (work 7 hours a day, but I live in Michigan so it is not mandated). I have to lead groups of up to six individuals who cannot be left out of my sight. Each of these individuals have between 1-3 pages of paperwork. My employer expects me to be able to focus on my clients and complete up to 13 pages of paperwork. Usually with the activities I take my clients to do, it is extremely difficult to complete the paperwork while simultaneously focusing on what they’re doing. When I try to complete my paperwork during my shift, my employer accuses me…
I am mostly just ranting, because I am not sure if I can even go anywhere legally with this. I have a hypersomnia issue. I have had it since I was a young child (since at least first grade. My mother was actually called because I went from being fully awake to completely passed out and my teachers though I had epilepsy at the time). I have never been able to find the answers, and I highly suspect that it's narcolepsy, but it's been hard to find a doctor willing to work with me on that until recently. I have gone through so many tests and diagnoses only for the treated health issue not be the root cause of why it happens. This isn't just me being a little sleepy or falling asleep when exhausted. I can go from being awake to the part of the sleep cycle that is…
Wife got written up for a back injury
Wife's company wrote her up because she had to call in sick with a back injury. She brought them a doctors note and they couldn't care less, just saying “you went over your available sick time so that's a write-up” When did so many organizations lose all compassion?
Been at my office job for a year. A coworker started around the time I did. Coworker has worked total of 3 months of last year. 3 months off fmla, 8 weeks vacation, regularly calls in sick with a variety of excuses (none related to fmla reason) and schedules about 8 -12 hours worth of appointments during working hours for self and kid he only has every other weekend. Multiple people have complained to boss about coworker inappropriate behavior, usually aggressively telling people off. We've lost business because coworker refuses to attend meetings (all remote). Boss tried multiple times to make coworker attend meetings. Coworker started attending meetings from his phone (after a year…) even meetings where there's no point in attending if u can't see the screen. Since the beginning coworker only attends meetings from computer with video if boss is in meeting.acts like a totally different person when…
