No raise after 1.5 years, I’m doing all my managers work by now.

Great initial offer at a small company. Thought it was an amazing place. Good people, for the most part understanding management. The CFO runs the place and I found out he never gives raises unless you threaten to leave. Then “maybe”. I’ve asked for a raise 3 times, all have been denied & some speech given. Not even by him, by the person under him. Acts like he’s a big shot and how he’s friends with everyone when he comes in. Over the 1.5 years I literally run the whole department and constantly get asked to solve problems that aren’t my job & my manager is basically at her desk all day watching videos on her phone acting like she does work. I feel like I’m being taken advantage of, but I like my coworkers and my commute is 3 min, I have 4 10’s. Maybe I just need to…

Boss’s Two Month Long Secret Plan to Fire Me

I’m a lead software architect working in defense for the past thirty years. Worked on many projects – missiles, aircraft flight displays, transport aircraft avionics, battle management systems, smart munitions, radar, targeting pods and armored fighting vehicles. Back in January a small defense machine shop type of company in a remote part of the country won a huge software contract to develop an infantry fighting vehicle. By chance, I was available and by chance a recruiter matched me up with a job I would not normally have known about. The company had no software experience – the boss and the system engineer were mechanical engineers and understood almost nothing about software development and even less about the software implications of the contract they had just won. The team was small and had only two experienced software engineers neither of whom wanted to the the lead architect. The company hired me…

Cannot take water to workplace

I have recently started working in a warehouse and on my first day I was informed that taking food or water inside of the warehouse is prohibited. This is the first time I am facing something like this as usually you are fine as long as it’s a certain type of bottle etc. There is a water station inside with the cups but it does take a bit of time to get there as it’s located right at the entrance and the warehouse itself is quite big. Now my issue is that I am used to drinking 2l+ water per day and I become thirsty really quick especially in the morning and whilst I don’t mind the walk there are certain things that may become an issue in my opinion a) there are always targets to be met at work and this will cut my time significantly b) simply not…

Talking about mental health is important

I am super excited to help encourage people in mental health – last year of life was hard for me and a select group of people helped me get through it. The challenge about mental health is there is so much stigma still regarding the issue. As a result, it is even hard to gauge how prevalent the problem is! Check out my youtube where I've been doing mental health interviews and fitness stuff! Thanks.

Anyone got any information on SkullSurvey?

I applied to a job and they wanted to me to put references in SkillSurvey. I dont really have friends so I created 4 references and put their emails in as the references and filled out all the references by myself. My question is, is SkillSurvey smart enough to know this? Do they look at IP addresses and do background checks and stuff on my references? The website makes the company seem like they do all this extra work, but I'm thinking logically, it's just a way for them to make money whilst doing the bate minimum. If this post isn't allowed, delete please.

Said something I probably shouldn’t have

One of the full-timers at my job is upset with me because I “said I was only there for the money” in front of a customer. First of all, not what I said. What I did say was that the reason I was working anywhere was to pay for a college class I have to retake. The reason I am working where I am is bc they were the company to get back to me at all. I even said I really like the work, particularly the customer service aspect, which is true. Most of the people are super nice. Secondly, what the hell does anyone (including the customer) care if I'm only there for the money? If I'm giving you the service you expect and that the company expects of me, what does my motive matter? I actually like the company and people I work for, but that shouldn't…
