Like title says, at my job pay is counted every 15 minutes, so if you click in one minute late you’re not paid for the whole 15. This is obviously an issue in itself but I didn’t care in the past because I just made it up with smoke breaks. Now I’ve transferred to a different location at the same company, but this building is different. At my old job you could just walk in, for this one you have to scan your card outside to open the door. But my card doesn’t work at the door even though I’ve asked them to fix it and it’s been months now. Bit of a rant here. I quit my job a month ago now after my boss treated me so badly for years that my health deteriorated severely. I worked at this company and gave them my soul for 5 years and they didn’t even give me a card or well wishes when I resigned (on good terms I might add). I saved up to take a year off and though I’ll probably have to find work again before then I just wanted to share some of the responses I’ve received. I’ve only told a handful of people that I quit, and yet everyone seems to know. The news spread like wildfire in my community. No one knows my plan to take a year off they just know I quit my job. What utterly disgusts me is the comments I’ve received. Things like: You quit? So what are you doing now?…

So this is my first job, I'm straight out of high-school and the job is a fiancial analyst thingy, I signed a contract with the start date as 4th september, today I got an email from HR saying the manager had confirmed the start date to be the 3rd of august, I am on holiday with my extended family till the 14th, what should I do? My dad is telling me just to say It wouldn't be possible for me to start then.

Hi, I have been accused with false allegations at my work place, it's almost embarrassing to be accused of such things. HR has sent me an invitation to attend disciplinary hearing with 3 witness statement which are all verbal claims and assumptions by those witnesses. There were two allegations, one is vaping in the toilet, one of the employees have raised an issue about smelling of vape in the toilet and a woman saw me walked passed her office after a few minutes, bare in mind every once in awhile i like to get out of my office desk and go for a walk within the building, i probably was walking past from canteen and happened to be near the toilet. Also not flushing the toilet and leaving the toilet in unacceptable state I am appalled and offended by it because everyone in my office know I am a bit…

TDLR at the end So I’ve been working for this company for almost two years and I’m planning to leave. I like the place but I’m looking for a raise that I likely won’t receive here. In the time that I worked for them, I have been blessed with an amazing supervisor. He has been with the company for 5 years and is working on basically all the projects of my department. He knows my projects better than me and he can do everything that is needed on our job (we are cloud data engineers for a consulting company). While I don’t necessarily work all the hours of my work day (there is a lot of downtime due to clients not needing support), he is constantly busy helping everybody, giving us direction, basically babysitting us all. I don’t know why I’m dreading today so much, I’ve worked much harder jobs and longer shifts but I’m really not feeling it today. Probably because I used some PTO to give myself a long weekend. That always makes it harder to go back. I need the money and I need the job so unfortunately I don’t have much choice but just wanted to vent a bit. This job is just a “hold over” until I get hired for a position in a field I actually give a shit about. Praying that happens soon. Anyways, I hope todays work day goes by quick for all y’all as well.

I am constantly astonished reading some of the employment practices that seem to be the norm in the US. I am in Europe. Things like, No paid holidays, no parental leave, being fired for no reason with no notice, having to find your own cover if off sick, being expected to work extra hours as a norm, etc. My question is, how did it get this way. How did the development of worker's rights in the rest of the world bypass the US, and why did you allow it?
