I was fired from my job for asking for my pay

Hello I was recently fired from one of the top restaurant franchises in the world for asking for my pay. The owner let’s call him P is a not the best at keeping his employees happy. He has fired multiple managers in the past few money because of them not saying yes to everything he wanted. In around march i was promoted to a busser coach position along with another one of my coworkers. This promotion came with a increase in hourly from 4 to 6.50 a 150 dollar signing bonus for completing training. and a 150 per person trained bonus aswell. It took me fighting tooth and mail with management to even get my raise to 6.50. it took months, they locked me out of my paystubs so i couldn’t see how much i was getting and told me that it was never a thing. On Saturday which is…

Short your 40hrs. Policy says it automatically deducts from your vacation time. Thoughts?

Title pretty much sums it up, but has anyone else encountered this. My state has terrible rights and is insanely bad on protection of workers. APPARENTLY, it’s our policy that if you come in under 39hrs, they will deduct the difference from your vacation time. You don’t just get to be paid less or be short because I’ve tried. Every time category is separate in our system so we have our Vacation Time(80hrs)/ Sick Time(accrued at 4hrs per month) and then at the 1 year mark, you are awarded 5days of PTO. Has anyone else had this happen at their employer? I came in last week at 37 hours and I’ve now lost 3 hours of vacation time. There are many reasons why you could be short on hours, but my vacation time was supposed to mine to use how I needed it right? Thoughts?

Oh boy another week at work.. Time to sit here and make every task last as long as humanly possible.

So burnt out of work I've got it down to a science to try and do as little as humanly possible here. We're slow on work so it's not like it's entirely noticeable. Each task takes about an hour depending on complexity of said task. take 2 bathroom breaks in the first half of the day with about an hour inbetween each to make it not so suspicious. Take the lunch and slack off for the next 30 minutes while the managers are taking their full hour lunch (we get 30, used to be an hour before they cut ours in half for whatever reason). 2nd half of the day I just repeat what I did on the first half. Bonus points if one of the machines fail and I have to put an insane amount of time into it because they're old and our Maintenance team doesn't know how…

Wonder if there is storage in ‘pity city’?

Despite efforts to reuse and repurpose office equipment, most still ends up in the trash, said Trevor Langdon, the chief executive of Green Standards, a sustainability consulting company that helps to minimize office waste. Based on 2018 federal statistics on waste, the latest year with available data, Mr. Langdon estimates that more than 10 million tons of office furniture in the United States end up in a landfill every year….Green Standards said it has diverted almost 39,000 tons of office waste from landfills since the pandemic began.” The Herman-Miller chair has been an expensive stable of offices for decades. But the company came under fire when the CEO was caught telling employees o leave “pity city’’ and stop asking about bonuses. She was compensated 5 million last year. Why do companies continue to egregiously compensate CEOS when the writing on the wall is that the industry is in decline? And…

Help, my boss is stealing from me

Hello, maybe the title sounds half virgin but I couldn't think of another word, I want to ask you guys ways to work badly on purpose (make the boss lose money) in a business, the context is as follows: I work 7 and a half hours a day, 72 (is under the minimum wage) dollars a week The thing is that my boss with whom I agreed to an increase to 72 dollars, now says it was 65, he also steals from me with the commissions which in theory are 1.5%, There is also the detail that he wanted to pay me a 20-dollar bonus, the bonus in my country is half of a whole month, the bastard thinks I don't realize it That's why I want to make him lose money without being obvious.

Interview processes in other countries

I have a friend who recently got a job in marketing. To get this job, he had to complete four different interviews, one of which was four hours long. I know this sort of thing is commonplace. It’s not like this for every job in America, of course, but it seems increasingly the case for many, many jobs. I also know that, as long and grueling a process as this was, it’s not the longest or most grueling out there. I’m wondering if this is just an American thing. Does it happen in other countries?

Miserable in my new job

Hi Guys, Hope it's okay to post here. I started my job back earlier this year after being laid off by a large tech firm. I managed to get something that was the same salary and sector. I started and it was pretty clear that training would be minimal, supported by the rest of the team saying this. The general vibe on the team is quite unhappy and it would seem that the VP has taken a bit of a disliking to me (heard me chatting to another staff member about how I was unhappy with the lack of training and felt like the work wasn't being distributed fairly, my own fault, moment of weakness). Thankfully my line manager and the main boss seem to like me and think I am doing a good job. Since then I just feel so anxious all the time. My workload is significantly more…

90 year old woman retires after working 74 years in same store.

The title about never having a day off is a bit misleading. She never once called in sick in 74 years. What did they do when she retired… They put up a plaque in the store. This by the author hit home a bit: I don’t know about you, but stories like Melba’s certainly inspire me. Not sure how much it inspires me that a 90 year old is having to work until health issues. Maybe they wanted to work that long but I hope it wasn't a need or necessity. https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/retirement/90-year-old-woman-retires-after-74-years-in-the-same-store-she-never-had-a-day-off/ar-AA1dEUzH?ocid=hpmsn&cvid=5fa25fc024e048d9a5905f55d566227c&ei=39

My boss berated me while I was in pain laying on the floor

I work in veterinary medicine. This morning when I went to work I went through my back. I still drove to work like the idiot I am and when I arrived I could barely get out of my car. I had to call my colleague so she could help me get to the clinic. She laid me down in our operating room and there I laid since 9.00 until 12.30. I got some painkillers to try and manage the pain in my back but to no avail. While I was laying there my boss berated me for making an appointment for a dog for which there was apparently no time for. She berated me a second time for another appointment for dental cleaning but the cat hadn't been here for 3 years. All while I was laying in pain on a little matrass. Eventually she said if I had a…
