I was sick last night, was meant to work at 10-7 today. I called and my manager was fine with it she was like yea that’s fine no worries, bla bla bla. I have severe anxiety and depression so this was a hard phone call to make in the first place. My manager then sends me a message saying I need a doctors note other wise I’m going to get a ‘strike’. This has made me very uncomfortable because I was only sick, I didn’t need to go to the doctors, I just needed to rest and get over my illness. I’m on the search for a new job. I’m going to call my doctors and see if I can get a sick note for a week so I can sort my self out a little (im not in the best place head wise) and when I go back, if…

Some employers ask you to state your desired salary in their application (rather than advertising it themselves). This has always struck me as a way to pre-empt the negotiating power of the potential applicant by outing and eliminating potential applicants whose salary expectations are higher than what the company would like to offer. In this situation, is it better to state your maximum desired salary first, or simply to leave the question blank?
Leaving my Front Desk job.
Hello. I just wanted to vent because I left my Front Desk job 4 days ago. I was a Front Desk Agent/Lead for a year and 7 months. It feels weird leaving I didn't expect to be working in the hotel industry but I did it because of the money. Also, I thought this was going to be my forever job since I love everyone on the team so much but things changed. A little bit of back story. I was a hairstylist for 5 years and ever since covid happened, it hit me hard in the hair career. I could not work for a whole year due to covid restrictions but after covid started to die down a bit, I did do job searching for at least 6 months. I did probably 6 interviews but didn't get any offers at all. Those jobs I signed up for was mainly…
Cancel the IRS
That's it. If anything should be cancelled, hashtag comma this.
Some context, I volunteer at a non profit and was away for some time. My job is to interview people to join our non profit. The way it works is I reply to their emails to schedule a time for the interview. When I came back, my superior had replied to the last 10 emails, signed MY name on them, and threatened to fire me if I couldn't make the 10 time slots that HE set. Is this something he can do?
LMAO, watch me
https://time.com/5476534/french-protests-successful-macron/ Basically what the title says. Any time government or companies try to take away our rights, we need to mobilize the way French people do. I have relatives in France and from what they tell me, and from what I've seen when visiting, the government is afraid of its people. That's how it should be here. Reduction to healthcare? 1000s in the streets of Paris are protesting. Making unions weaker? Chaos in France. The government backs down. In America, there's a stereotype about how the French are cowards and won't fight, and we all like to joke about it time to time, but I can assure you that's not true.
I know, I know. I should have known better. I live in what is considered a LCOL area in the Midwest. But once we landed in major cities in Northern Europe, everything was cheaper. The food. The transportation, grocery store, activities. Everything! Even going into a pharmacy for bandages was half the cost of a Walmart. My kiddo, knowing I have anaphylactic issues, was like, at least we know the healthcare is covered. Seriously looking to move now. I love my life, but I could totally recreate that in many other countries. Sitting here with my few sick days and little vacation time each year.
