Long story short: I signed a non compete three years ago at the beginning of employment. We now are slow and money is getting tight. Was offered a job elsewhere with similar work however someone else mentioned leaving. Now my company is threatening noncompete on us. I’m so frustrated since I don’t even have access to documents my company uses for work. If I can’t take this new job due to non compete I’m fucked. I don’t know what to do. I’m scared that if I take the new job they’ll pull that out on us and won’t let me come back. If I stay I don’t think we’ll have any work. What should I doooo

Should have asked for advice earlier as this already happened, but here we are. Base is that we get reimbursed for expenses and someone else that works sales in the company has the same last name. New payroll person credited me with their sales bonuses. They told me at the time they were going to deduct my next five paychecks to make the math work. I asked them to let me know exactly what they were taking out of each paycheck and they failed to do so. It’s annoying and I think it’s about over, but I was within my first two months at this job and just felt like I was in a position where I wasn’t able to advocate for myself. Anyone out there encountered something like this? I’m going to send an HR email this week to express my disappointment with how they failed to tell me…

I think I work in a very toxic team. Daily standups are just used to take attendance and publicly shame people in front of the entire team if the manager thinks you are not working hard enough. If the manager is having a bad day, he takes his frustration out on rest of the team. Taunts are very common, you can expect to hear you are incompetent, working not fast enough, etc every few weeks. Not allowed to take leaves, we have to inform weeks in advance for a single day off but it can still be cancelled. I once applied for a sick leave because I had a really bad headache, was asked to take disprin and cancel my leave. I can add more but I think you get the general idea. Changing teams is not possible I tried. I know I should leave this job and I will…

My job doesn't have designated vacation days and about 15 days of PTO per year (I've already taken about 3-5 work day's worth so far, 6 months in). I don't plan on taking an extended vacation, because I want to save my PTO for days when I have an emergency or medical procedure, since I am a cancer survivor with multiple disorders. I could always ask for more PTO, which I think is actually an option, but I am afraid if I do, they will not look so kindly on me, and eventually want to get rid of me.
