I live in Dallas county Texas and work at a warehouse full time. I’m a 19m and have been working hear since I was 17. Every summer it reaches heats of over 100* (37.8 Celsius) outside and the warehouse is consistently hotter inside than out. Several of our fans are broken, including the large one on the roof. We are allowed as much water as we want but have no electrolyte drinks most of the time. It got up to 106 (41.1 Celsius) several times last week and will again this week. Ontop of this, it’s extremely humid. There are no laws or regulations to protect us from this heat.

Like my dude my parents are just as neglectful and abusive as you. Idk what you're goal with that line was but its not working. (Like me)
I accepted a new job at a large company that I started a few weeks ago. I have been having issues getting benefits set up and have gone back and forth at least a dozen times with HR department who has so far been unable to successfully troubleshoot me even after “closing my ticket” several times. My SO and I both have pressing healthcare needs we’ve been postponing because— well, we can’t go to these appointments without the health insurance. So until we get this squared out, our health is in limbo. My second problem I’m facing here is that I was told I would be paid $50+/hr depending on the shift. But now I’m finding out that for my first month, I will only be getting paid around $35/hr because I’m on “orientation”. To be clear, I got one week of actual orientation where people were helping me here…
Keep Going…
Hey yall! The title sums it up. I usually work second shit (3-11) and specifically asked my boss for Saturday off to go to a show in a city a few hours away. He gave me Saturday off but scheduled me at 7 am today so I physically wouldn’t be able to be back in time to sleep before work. I ended up telling him I was throwing up and couldn’t go and he was extremely pissed and rude about it so now I feel guilty. Am I actually a piece of shit for doing this? I never call out and am generally a pretty reliable employee, but his reaction was pretty severe. How do I stop feeling bad?
Years ago before delivery apps and digital menus I'd never once been asked to tip. Also while working in a restaurants I'd never expect or received a tip during my 5 years of working in that industry. Moving forward apps like Uber Eats and Menulog come out and it starts asking for tips. During Covid when stuff started opening up again digital ordering system where you scan a QR code and pay from your phone started to become super common place and now most sit down restaurant have them but unsurprisingly they also encourage tipping (They do usually specify that they're going to the employees but it's so new it hard to trust that managements actually doing the correct thing.) The worst thing recently is some select few places (although rare) have these screens that you pay at the counter and you need to select 0% tip in front of…
