Job keeps piling more responsibilities for no more pay

Im sorry to rant but I find it discouraging as all hell that I work at a hospital (as a sitter) and got paid only $13 for doing stuff outside of my scope. I’d watch up to 5 psych patients at once, always at risk of getting assaulted in all ways, tech upstairs for other units and even was tried to be pushed off to secretary work when they didn’t have one. My coworkers and superiors encouraged me to get my CNA to have another valid reason to get a pay raise (I was dragged around to translate spanish and the other stuff mentioned above). I went ahead and got certified even after my community college tried to scam me into paying full price for the course after qualifying for a low cost program. Once I was fully certified, I was offered a title change from sitter to PCT at…

Starting a jointly owned company with former boss’s tools and materials

Using Google Translate I was fired because I was caught stealing at work, dozens of colleagues who were dissatisfied with the salary and working conditions defended me and gave the boss an ultimatum not to fire me, but the boss threatened to replace us with a new batch of workers. If my friends were also fired we decided to mass rob the factory and use the proceeds to build a new jointly owned company. It may seem like breaking the law, but we workers are local residents, while the boss is an ethnic minority who are not liked because they exploit local people's labor, earn big profit while local people live in poverty. There was once an incident in another company where a local employee injured his boss due to a dispute but was not jailed because the community protected the employee, the police gave up because if he was…

Update on unexpected layoff

It’s been a week since my job got eliminated/outsourced. As planned, I’m working for Company B as an independent contractor for this month while still working in Company A’s office. I’ve applied to 10 jobs so far, some on site, some remote and one that is hybrid. So far, nothing but crickets. Maybe a lot of people took this week off for July 4 (I think one place I applied to closes on Fridays during the summer). Company B hasn’t assured me I’ll get offered a permanent position. If they do I’ll take it since it’s better than unemployment, but I’ll still be looking elsewhere. Last month, Company A was closed for Juneteenth but Company B was open. I also discovered that MLK Day and the day after Thanksgiving which are Company A holidays are not Company B holidays. It’s unclear whether I would be able to work from home…

Hired on to help a friend, ended up being a massive mistake

I’m not sure what to do about this, as it’s a pretty sticky situation. I left my better paying job to help a friend at a location they manage (I get it, I learned the hard way) it was a decent pay cut, but I was promised a raise within a month of working there. Not a smart move and it’s something I regret. But at the time I thought I could trust this person, so I left my job. A month goes by and the raise didn’t happen. “I’ll talk to them next month” Here’s the fun part. 2 months in, I get hurt on the job and have to go through the beautiful process of workman’s comp. Spent a few days where I couldn’t walk, and then a whole month and a half where I was working on heavy restrictions. My hours are cut in half and I’ve…

Wait for it…TIL in traditional Christian theology there are four sins “which cry out to heaven for vengeance” : murder, sodomy, oppression of the poor, and defrauding a worker of his wages.
