I'm curious what everyone's thoughts are on this but I've been kind of toying with a theory that we're gurrently on a generational plan to ensure that America does become a nation of renters. Thinking back Powell's Federal reserve hiking interest rates was meant to “discipline labor” and “reduce inflation” by basically inflicting pain upon the most vulnerable. We see this pushing borrowing regional banks and businesses to fail creating a smoke screen to hide the corporate price gouging making up the majority of this so called inflation. Home prices which have remained historically high and not dropped to any significant degree. Thus rapidly becoming unreachable by the general public not only due to high price but also the crushing interest rates; leading to tens if not hundreds of thousands of dollars further pushing single family buyers out of the market. Now we're seeing capital investment firms buying up housing…

EDIT: I made the mistake of posting a screenshot, so I'm correcting it. This is what I wrote for our company's award survey submission: “I do not believe this company should win this award again; in fact, PSBJ should know that each year, we are guilted and pressured into voting well so our team wins consecutively. I have lived in fear of losing my job and being isolated and retaliated against if I don't speak highly about this company, but by living this way with all the lies and tip-toeing around, it has led to a lot of physical and mental health issues that I may never be able to heal from. Let it be known that my immediate colleagues are phenomenal humans and it goes against my values by not standing up for them, as they do not deserve the treatment they receive daily from leadership behind closed doors.…
Bait and Switch job postings
I applied for a remote job at the end of May. Yesterday I got a message through indeed from their “talent acquisition” saying: “Thank you for applying for our onsite CSR position. If you'd like to schedule an interview, please reach out immediately.” So I message back: “I applied for the remote customer service position. No where on the job listing did it mention this role was on site, I am curious as to why it's now being communicated that this is in fact an on-site position.” Then a RECRUITER messages stating to please give him a call to discuss the role. Im not interested in discussing the role. Don't put something as remote and then message stating it's in person. It's been a constant state of bait and switch when it comes to postings on any site. Frustration doesn't even begin to cover how I've been feeling with looking…

Just as the title says, what TANGIBLE things can Americans do to support the upcoming strike? None of this, “youre doing a great job!” Or “hjt em hard” but axtual tangible things that can hopefully snowball to a broader change for the working class? Remember the media is going to spin this and make anti-union propaganda about how its the unions fault youre not getting your packages or there isn't this or that at the store you frequent. Also, should we be buying supplies en masse? I'm all for supporting them but we all know that the big corporations aren't just going to roll over on this and frankly will push the narrative the union is hurting the working class versus “we are striking because we are sick of being treated like a number on a spreadsheet and this shit needs to stop”
Our boss asks for our latest CVs
This comes after a group meeting of all of our founders after many months (they all are located in different cities). Our boss texted us today to mail him our latest CVs within two days. We’re a small firm with less than ten employees. What could it possibly mean? What should I be knowing? Ps: I have been working here for more than a year.
Title says it all. I worked as an Apprentice Mold Maker for a glass container company. I averaged 70 hours a week through the pandemic, while also taking classes towards my Journeyman card. I had never been late, never called in sick, never been written up. In December 2021 I was diagnosed with a super rare form of Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma, called Cutaneous T Cell Lymphoma. The HR guy at my work allowed me to take Spring Semester of my classes off so I could go through treatment for my Cancer. Fast forward to Fall of 2022, the day before my classes were set to start again I was informed I was being fired for NOT KEEPING UP WITH MY CLASSES. (I was 3 hours short of where I should have been). My Union President and other reps did NOTHING. Wouldn't even file a grievance on my behalf. So I went…
My boss = epitome of capitalism
So because I signed 6 NDA’s, details will be vague. I’m posting for 2 reasons: to get it off my chest but also looking for opinions. I just started in May. Company is just me (admin) and my boss and his partner. The business model is something which is explicitly illegal in 47 states including ours. The main reason it’s illegal is bc if it wasn’t, it’d be very easy to take advantage of certain vulnerable groups financially (the elderly, those less fluent in english/financial hardships etc). Well my boss has a lawyer who has written special contracts exploiting a loophole in the law. They are not too confident with their loophole though bc they do everything to make sure the client doesn’t get their own lawyer and that no one else sees the contract. I know I have to find another job asap. I feel like a TERRIBLE person.…
This is kind of a long rant, so if it’s not allowed feel free to have this deleted. I honestly just don’t know where else to vent that would even understand. I’m two years shy of turning 30 and have a toddler with another on the way. We live with my fiancé in our first apartment and at this point we’re just struggling so badly that I feel like an utter failure. Where we live right now is very, very expensive and our rent recently went up as well as borough utilities. My fiancé makes on the upwards of 22-23 an hour, which I know should be considered a lot. I had a full time job up till March and was laid off after being refused my FMLA accommodations after having put my time in. We were honestly doing pretty okay, we were paying everything on time, and could actually…
