Capitalism is killing me slowly.

A few years ago I was burnt out working for AT&T and I heard a lot of positive things about a very popular glasses retailer. They had a high rating on Glassdoor and reviews overall said company culture was great and inclusive and they pay you to volunteer at a charity of your choosing, reimburse you with a health stipend (gym/yoga/mental health etc.) Provide snacks / groceries for every store. You get free glasses every 3 months and 1 free exam per year. A stake in the company. Benefits. 401k. A good amount of PTO. The company overall seemed very concerned with their employees and when I started it felt great. Fast forward to the company going public and since then every benefit is being reduced or taken away completely. They’ve cut hours for part timers company wide, people who were promised 25-32 hours per week are now getting 8-15…

Americans who support the UPS strike

Whether you’re union or not. Whether you work for UPS or not. If you support the strike, you are: Unselfish. You put your wants below the needs of others. Fair. You believe working people deserve more than they’re getting. Working. You might know what it’s like to be marginalized or exploited. Reasonable. You see through the pro-corporate narrative. Human. Just wanted to say that for those supporting the imminent UPS strike. We realize we live in an era where most of us have to go to battle with corporations just to be heard. Let’s hope this creates a ripple effect worldwide.

New jobs added

” Companies in the private sector created a whopping 497,000 new jobs in June” Honest question, do we know how many of these new jobs are people who already had another job, or how many of them are because of age restrictions being relaxed to allow hiring employees under 18?

Best way to mess with slackers

Im a contractor who works outdoors at customers houses without supervision. Aside from me it is just my crew lead and I but recently my boss has hired another guy to work with us but he's a big slacker. He weaponizes incompetance and knows how to do the work well but chooses to walk slow and half ass all his jobs. Soon enough our paperwork will show we arent getting any more work done with an extra so that will come on my crew lead and I here soon. He was also directly hired from personally knowing the boss and my boss isnt the best at understanding tricky situations, so Im afraid he might side with the slacker if I bring this up. Also this is a temporary Summer job for him so chances are he wont get fired if hes going to be here for a short time. What…

According to my sister I should stay at my toxic af job because of the money.

I've been working at my company for nearly 5 years now as a quality tech. My job is really simple and it does pay decent, but so much has changed over the past few years and they aren't good changes. I work at a warehouse where I do my work inside a lab and the other half is being on the production floor. I've expressed to my boss how I'd like to take the classes here to get certifications and grow. Well, nothings changed. I'm still a quality tech I, while my other coworker has the “II” next to his. I'm just sick and tired of the added work and the people. There's so much sexual harassment from the supervisors, but they never get fired. Ever. Because favoritism. I'm tired of how rude and nasty everyone is. It's high school all over. I'm really sick of the lack of opportunities…

My job has my HR approved breaks noted as out of adherence and it’s impacting my scorecard

There are some other areas I'm “struggling” in, but I was recently put on a verbal warning for my performance. I noticed while we were going over adherence, my HR approved breaks (for a doctor noted medical condition) were showing as out of adherence further bringing my score down. Am I reading too much into this or should I be concerned?

Why would a company ask me if I have Animals?

I recently filled out an application asking me if I had animals, it was for a company called Inotive. Is it because it is a pharmaceutical company? Why do they need to know if I have animals?

Overqualified, but still not good enough… WTF

So I have a degree in what many consider an “impressive” area. I have worked in tech, sales, and I write well enough that my resume/cover letter looks and sounds pretty great (thanks AP classes)… but because I’ve been often overlooked in these jobs for advancement or training—YES, GENDER AND RACIAL BIAS ARE VERY REAL IF YOU NEED TO BE REMINDED OR LIVE IN A FANTASY LAND—I feel as if I don’t have the hard skills to apply for jobs that reflect my degree and capabilities. On the other side of that coin, when trying to apply for “lower level” jobs, I’m told I need to “tailor” my resume to that job. WHY?! If I have the degree, worked in management, been in customer facing roles, have specialty training, then what in the hell makes you think I can’t be a goddam flight attendant??! I was referred to and applied…
