You can’t work? FIND SOMEONE ELSE TO TAKE YOUR PLACE!!

When i was 15, i had my first job at Burger King, i was excited and they were really friendly with me.. until they come up with a test. I had to study a book and then write a test about the food we are making. I scored low because i gave the book to my friend because they didnt give him one so he can study (he was also new). They reviewed my test and started making fun of me and my answers with the whole crew before i even knew what the results were. I worked there 2 months and when i wanted to have a free day on my birthday, i texted my manager and told him i can’t work today but i can come work as i’m scheduled. He lost it and started belittleing me and swear at me in our group chat that i need…

We need to spin off a sub called /r/complainaboutboss

Because almost every post is just bitching about bosses. It seems to me that this sub was intended to be about the freedom available to those who don't work, and efforts to reduce the need to work, not the horror stories of those who do work.

Back to work.

Well, first week back at work after some leave. Management surprised the team with new contracts with changed conditions yesterday afternoon for signature today with an additional undisclosed remuneration framework… It’s a great week when you have grown adults openly crying on the Teams call /s

The story of how and why I quit at a horse barn

This is a bit of a longer story but it gets progressively worse, so it might be worth a read. I used to work for a semi big horse barn (~150 horses). I loved the work there, the people not so much. My boss was super nitpicky and a micromanager. We stayed longer at least once a week (unpayed) but lord have mercy if she ever caught us having a sneaky cigarette break or taking a bite. The day before christmas one of my coworkers came in wearing a mask. Turned out everyone in her family tested covid positive yesterday, her test was still negative this morning. She was not allowed to stay home. Everyone else was freaking out, because we would all see our extended family the next day ON CHRISTMAS EVE, which of course included grandparents and people at risk. My mother was recovering from chemo therapy at…

my sister got fired for being depressed

TW: mental health stuff my sister got fired for having depression so my sister is one of the hardest working people i know. she over performs at every job. she works hard at these jobs in spite of the toll that it takes on her mental health. basically she started this new job at a dog daycare. she has a lot of experience working with animals and they explicitly said she was overqualified. so, as usual, she did everything and more at this new job. they told her how good of a job she was doing. but this job was ruining her. it reached a point where i had to go to the hospital with her so that she wouldnt take her own life. this isn’t just because of the job. its a genetic thing, but working any job really triggers these things in both of us. but the thing…

I’m being targeted at my job

I work as a psychiatric technician. I was recently called in (mid shift, mind you) for a “documented discussion,” for which I had to give my signature and everything. A documented discussion is a step short of a corrective action. Apparently I’m being reported by my “coworkers” (read coworker singular, as I later found out) for a variety of grievances I have never had a single coworker address with me directly, and that my other coworkers deny that I do. Grievances such as standing around when there’s work to be done, not aiding enough in behavior management, and not calling out my residents when they don’t follow rules, all of which I believe, and the coworkers I spoke to believe, I do diligently. Management is unabashedly believing a particular staff who is targeting me with little to no corroboration. I found out from another coworker that this same staff had…

Beginning the hunt for a job that pays a living wage in my field after going back to school and receiving a different degree… any suggestions?

I am about to graduate with my MBA in Marketing. This is the first time that I am applying to full-time jobs in my new field, because prior to beginning my MBA, I worked for well below a living wage in government through the History field using an MA and a BA in History. I have relevant experience working in the marketing department of my university and in marketing research, as well as five years of volunteer nonprofit executive leadership. I want to move to Boston and start a new life there, but the cost of living in the area is so high that I would need to land a job that pays a decent wage.… I currently live in poverty (I’m on food stamps and below the poverty line despite working and going to school full time), and I have always lived in poverty. Realistically, do you have any…

Fired + Ghosted by HR

For privacy reasons I’ll just leave the company name out of this but, I worked for a very well known theme park in California and if you’re thinking six flags, you’re wrong. I got hired into their warehouse with a group of people, we trained and worked well together. I immediately got a weird vibe from the manager and coworkers warned us about her and how she was quick to fire new hires. Like any job I just walked around eggshells and tried to be as respectful as possible until I hit the “1 month” mark. Everyone in my group got a “performance” review but during my meeting she went on ranting how I always seem so serious and my face doesn’t convey any emotion, she then goes onto say that one day I passed her in a hallway and when she said hi to me I said hi back…
