I saw a social media post with 50k likes where a person was explaining what all people can see on Teams. They were off in their post and the comments were even more hilariously wrong so let me just put this clearly. If you have MS Teams, with a work account. They can see literally every single thing you entered into it. Even if it’s deleted. From however long they want to retain those logs. Could be years. Ditto Slack. The portal is extremely easy to use. I have access to these portals and use them daily for Cybersecurity. I created the audit rules that alerts us when people view these records to avoid abuse and unethical behavior from management. But no one should be surprised, when working on or within company provided resources you have ZERO privacy.

I work in a Canadian hospital as a medical scribe, mostly doing nightshifts in a busy ER. The hospital is integrated into a larger, publicly funded provincial healthcare network, and pretty much every job, from janitor to doctor, is protected by some form of union/order membership. Unfortunately, my job is one of the few – along with security, who arguably has it worse than the scribes – that has been subcontracted to a private company, and I'm not part of any union. Despite us being Canadian, my dad has a weird soft spot for Reagan, talks about the Reagan era like the good old days, and generally has disdain for unions. Recently, he dropped some more anti-union rhetoric in a conversation after a long shift, and I lost it. I explained to him that non being part of a union is the reason I make 14 bucks an hour, to…
Finally quitting after 6yrs of Bs
Long story short. I work at a dental office. When I first started working there it was a family run practice. Super chill and alot of long time pts who are almost like family. About a month before covid we were sold to a corporation. Since then it's been going down hill. It also has become extremely toxic to the point it effects my mental health and relationships. The past year we have seen an entire shift in staff. Most staff had been long time employees but when corp came in and changed everything alot left. Over the past year I've had nothing but empty promises made by the owner/manager. The past month has been extremely bad, so I started looking closer to home. On Tuesday I found a job 9 mins from home so applied. The next day a former coworker saw my resume as she does the vetting…
Rant, feeling lost. I have been working the same trade for 14 years. I am an arborist. I worked as a tree climber through college, paid for a bunch of school and ended up with 2 masters degrees. Worked in my field 6 months, quit and went back to trees, being in a lab sucked and I made less money. I started my own buisness and did really well for myself in my mid 20s, made like 80k a year. My wife at the time got an offer to go to school so we moved sold my business and I started climbing for another company. I did great and they bumped me to a consulting/ sales job. 90k a year plus commission on my sales. I made 130k my first year. This year my office manager sucked, didn't sell his share and put it on my shoulders. I couldn't make…
My husbands job has recently mandated a return to office. But five months ago, they confirmed that IT would continue as WFH indefinitely. He was forced to ask due to us buying our first home. Housing prices in Ontario are out of control, so we were forced to look further and further from his office. Before he started looking he asked management if the WFH policy would change. He was told that he would be required in the office at most 4 times a year. We found the perfect house in a small town, but it is about 2 1/2 to 3 hours from the office. Before putting down an offer, he again asked management if this would be okay. They confirmed, even the head of IT confirmed that there were no problems. One month ago, things started to change. Some higher up got it in their head that everyone…
I've recieved a strong verdict on my last post about leaving, and thank you to everyone on this subreddit who helped me realize I needed to have more self-respect and move on from my job. But with that, I need advice on what my response should be to management asking about my employment status during my interviews. I plan on leaving this aforementioned job without a notice. Should I tell management I am employed but available to work as soon as they accept? Would they assume that I'd be departing from my current job without a notice, or worse, ask if I will leave a notice during the interview? If I lie and say I am unemployed, is there any way they can find out? Should I EVEN MENTION my current job? (Only valuable and relevant experience at that job is customer service experience, but I have a lot of…
Given a verbal for expressing my opinion
I’ve been working for a remote healthcare job for almost a year now. In the last few weeks we had a meeting in regards to our performances and that pretty much higher ups want more from us. This caused the group to become frustrated because we have expressed multiple times the lack of training and tools that have been provided to us and the supervisor opened the floor to express our concerns. With that being said a coworker began pointing out some inconsistencies and contradicting comments my supervisor made and did not take that well. This coworker than left the meeting and supervisor asked again if anyone had any comments I took this opportunity to voice my concerns in a calm manner until I used the word gaslight My supervisor than began cutting me off and wouldn’t let me speak. I requested to let me finish my concerns out of…
Just got terminated today (vent)
I’m just here to vent. I work remotely, for three years. I was a supervisor with two reports. I was here a few years (or months) ago about my boss’s micromanaging. The constant need to be on the phone, the daily emails about new “rules” that we have to acknowledge and promise to comply are the ones I don’t like the most. I tried, believe me… to go with her flow and call on schedule and follow her rules. But alas, my efforts were not enough. When I saw the schedule for our daily call moved from 5pm to noon, I already had a gut feeling. When I called her on the phone, she did not answer. Then the teams call came in. I knew it was coming. When I answered and saw the lady from HR is there, it was the confirmation I needed. Manager had to go through…
Pretty much the title, my team is all American except for myself and another engineer, we reside in another country and work remote. Yesterday everyone on my team got an emergency meeting notification and lo and behold, all Americans were required to go back to the office effective immediately. With the pandemic over it is time to come back, no more hybrid even, no exceptions, that was pretty much the message from management… This does not affect me in any way, just kind of weird, productivity was at an all time high… I get it though, if you can go 100% remote just get cheaper labor from another country, more experienced engineers with the same level of English…. for the price of a level 2 American engineer you can get 1 or 2 Senior engineers with perfect English from another country… Hybrid makes more sense to…
