This one really stuck with me because it was the most unpleasant experience I had with an US employer. I used to place international workers with US employers, and there was this one instance in which a client asked me to fire one of them because she hadn't shown up to work in too long without notice. This struck me as odd as we're very strict on notices, so I reviewed her file, turned out that not only did she give a notice about needing some days, they were also previously approved by her boss so she had no case. As I reviewed the requests for days off, it was some days because she had COVID (when it was still quite deadly) and then because her dad had died and she had to grieve him and also take care of many legal matters. In an attempt to “make everyone happy”…

Idk if it's against the rules to call out a company name, but I worked for a certain gaming company that's only alive due to a Reddit meme and wall street bets. I worked at their refurbishment center doing PS4s. My wage for learning how to diagnose, repair, and clean gaming systems? $16/hr. For sitting on uncomfortable metal and wooden stools in a dusty roach filled warehouse. The only reason I tolerated it so long was the 4×10 schedule. So every now and then we have a corporate business meeting and I'm not exaggerating when I say every time they take something away from us. 1st meeting. We no longer get bonus checks for hitting production. 2nd meeting. We no longer get merch for our birthdays! We can wholesale it! 3rd meeting. We were out a week due to the winter storm and guess what? This is the first year…
She called me today and told me as she was leaving he called her back. She thought she was in trouble but he told her that he was attracted to her then when she didn’t give him the response he wanted he told her to “forget this happened.” His wife is the director of their HR deportment.
I escaped the rat race (not really).
Since I was 18 (27 now) I've been doing blue collar work; landscaping, construction, warehouses, roadside auto repair. None of these jobs allowed me to live on my own, to get anywhere besides the next paycheck. After a less than successful attempt at college, I found what would be my career: Sailing. I joined the Seafarer's International Union, a labor union based out of the United States. The primary reason I'm so pleased with my decision to work for them is this: While I'm working they're feeding and housing me, my only bills are the phone bill and car insurance so I'm saving like 95% of all my paychecks after taxes. Work contracts have a tendency to be 2-4-6 month in length, but if you don't want to leave you just don't put in for relief, or if someone wants to leave and you're also due to leave you can…

Just saying. Of course commercial real estate would be interested. I’m just saying that Big Earl has a huge stake in Americans commuting.
i’m so fucking angry for my dad
my dad got in a motorcycle accident a few weeks ago, broke multiple ribs, got a screw in his thumb, and they're looking at maybe replacing his shoulder blade. he hasn't had a cent of income since this accident because his work won't approve it without proof from a doctor. and he can't find a doctor who will treat him for the shoulder that's preventing him from working! the thing that royally pissed me off on his behalf was when he told me today that he received a letter in the mail stating that he owes his insurance company $562 by the end of the month or he loses his coverage. mind you, after spending the last of what he had on medical bills, he now has ~$30 to his name. the system is so fucking messed up. this army fucking veteran can't even buy his groceries anymore because an…
coworkers sister was sick, and she had to call out for a while to take care of her. my boss, who’s had a history of just being a dick, decided to put her at 9.5 hours despite the fact she’s signed up for 32+ a week as a ‘lesson’. the cherry on top is that in messing up the schedule, he fucked everyone else over as well. our schedules are completely messed and now we’re all scrambling to find coverage in our 6 person department. biggest fuck you to my boss
The manager WAS a person I thought to be a friend too. My days are numbered and I don't know what to do.
