I recently got a job at a local candy store in a college town. I admit i'm not very socially acclamated but only one week is kind of messed up. I did a several hour interview and signed contracts and even got direct deposit finally set up. All of it was a huge waste of time. I've had 2 long lasting jobs in my life so far and I'm switching to a third one. My first was working for what I considered an evil leech on society (stock market HF trading company) as a (computer) network designer/engineer. My 2nd long lasting job was doing the same thing but for a genuinely good scientific company with life changing impact across continents. This 2nd company is currently being destroyed from the inside by a bunch of MBAs who only care about increasing short term profits. Company won't survive a year at this rate, so I'm quitting. Got sent via a recruitment agency to a food packing place. Turned up on the Monday. Place stank No one talking and looking miserable in the staff room. Despair hung in the air. Spent 30 seconds looking round, then walked straight back out and went home.

I work as an assistant manager for a chain of gas stations in the Midwest. I won’t say the name but I will say we are real big on our Pizzas. I have been with this store since March. I absolutely love my team. It’s a small town and everyone knows everyone. I’m the newbie in town and already feel so accepted here despite the fact I’m weird as shit. Here’s the problem. My manager has turned into the devil ever since I have my 2 weeks notice, she is taking my resignation way too personally and it's unfortunate because I honestly felt like I had accomplished a lot at this company and wanted to leave on good terms. Basically my manager wanted to move into a more senior role within our company (nobody in our team knew) and started sneakily transitioning all of her work to me and pretty much didn't wanna do any work over the past month. Thankfully, I had started looking for a job way before all of that shit went down and this week I gave my resignation. I could tell she was visibly upset although she tried to show she wasn't. My boss was literally the first person I told when I knew my wife was pregnant. Before my grandparents, and anyone on my side of the family. When they heard they said “you're the best janitor we've hired in the last 5 years. Whatever you need you'll get it. We don't want to lose you.” Come a week before the due date (and about 5 days before my leave was supposed to start) during my weekend they had to induce. That's when I got the notice saying my leave was denied. (only a month and a half.) Told em that it wasn't a request. Id be back on the 14th of September. Either I'd have a job, or id come collect my last paycheck. Goes to show your only important when your working for them.

So this may possibly be a long one? I’m not entirely sure, but I will be suing my job for assault, sexual assault, sexual harassment, harassment and emotional distress. These past two weeks have been a so brutal with everything that has been going on. Around late may or so, I was physically assaulted by my Senior shift lead, and while I reported it she is still employed here at the company, nothing had come of the HR investigation. I was then being sexually assaulted my Sous Chef (I work as a server in the culinary department) he was fired and that’s when jokes started being made about my case and plight. So I work for an agency. The agency actively hires undocumented workers but only if the documents look legit enough to pass a visual audit. They even provide us with tools to help give people an idea of what Resident cards should look like based on the year it was supposedly issued. I just started working here 3 months ago so I haven't done anything illegal yet and I'm trying to dodge it as best as possible. We had an employee who was making the fake documents to the undocumented workers whose docs didn't pass audit. She would charge them 600 to make passable fakes and promised to get them a job and placed them at the locations she was in charge of. Someone switched and the company was forced to fire her. Is anybody else annoyed at the coworkers who take pride in working through there lunch? And not getting paid for it. I got a hired a pool service company ( it’s shit load of work I don’t like it and it’s not big surprise because after 10 years and I only liked two of my jobs. Every other job has been miserable and it’s affecting my mental health.) . Because these idiots work through there lunch it’s now an unspoken rule to slave through your lunch. The guys training both didn’t even bring a lunch: like how are you guys working your ass off in this heat and not eating anything? And then taking pride in it? I feel like that’s a coping mechanism.
