I work 60+ hours a week at a plant that manufactures automobile parts. It was a temporary job I got after losing my old one, hired on through a quick temp agency. It sucks, but it keeps me alive. I live in a small town (less than 10k population) thus there isn't many places elsewhere local to work. We have fast food, Walmart, a few mom & pop shops, and that's everything else we have to offer. Obviously I want to find a full time job that doesn't require as many hours. Finding work here is hard enough, but when you, as an employer, go onto local Facebook groups and scream “WE'RE HIRING ANYONE WITH ARMS & LEGS WHO CAN PICK UP BOXES AND WORK MONDAY – FRIDAY” get applicants and then never call anyone back, THEN complain about “no one wants to work” – have you ever thought that…

I think because I know I'm out the door, even the small things I would normally have brushed off here are making me irrationally mad. This is the first time I've ever actually put in a two week notice. Before this, I would just simply stop coming in when I decided I was done with the place. Jobs don't give anyone a notice when they're gonna get fired or laid off so why should we give them a two week notice?? These two weeks have just reaffirmed I am making the right decision by leaving. I hate this fuckin place.
I hate my job and I'm looking for something new. I have job interviews in various companies all the time, and in almost every second one, either someone from hr or the possible future supervisor brags about how much overtime he has. Believe me when I tell you this: nobody, ABSOLUTELY NOBODY is interested in your shitty overtime and above all, overtime is nothing to brag about.
To the younger generation.
MOST (not all) of you guys do not to do well in construction. I'm only 35 but it seems like 30 and under are usually trash workers. I get you guys don't like to work but don't .ake everyone else do it for you damn.
I was recently fired for a “ time left “ (missed punch) somebody older advised me to call back apologize basically to beg for my job back. Has anyone ever been rehired after doing anything like this?

I was “terminated without cause” while eating my lunch. This happened two weeks ago and I still haven’t completely come to terms with it. The company I worked for was a local start-up with three other employees, including my boss, the “CEO”. We were just starting to gain recognition and pull in some serious money when my boss decides he doesn’t want to pay me the below-median pay I was already getting and would rather trap a freshly graduated student and pay them nothing. Just like he did to me. He didn’t actually say that money was the reason but I know it is. I had to beg him for a raise for a whole year and when I finally got one it was an extra $5000/annually. Yes, that’s right. 5000 dollars extra PER YEAR while he was paying himself over triple my salary, all while being completely incompetent. Not…
