Sales goals being high and unobtainable

I'm a sales manager in the cellular industry and have been for about a decade now. I'm running into an issue where my goals are just too high to obtain based on the traffic I'm getting. I'm in Florida which is a very heavy seasonal state. July is peak slow season and my goals are the same as they were in December, which means I'm not getting paid bonuses. I've talked to my district manager about this and he just refutes it as “it's slow we just have to deal with it”. There's been no attempt to bring this up the ladder either. My stores conversion rate is the highest in the company which means we are capitalizing on the traffic that's coming in but the goals are just too high for the traffic I'm getting. Any ideas on how to deal with this? I'm good at what I do…

Why does my GF insist on working free overtime?

My GF works from home with a salaried job. She is expected to work 9-5 with no overtime allowed. Several of the people who work with her often work an extra 20-30 minutes if there is something important that can't wait. But my GF routinely works an extra 50 minutes and sometimes even 90 minutes past 5pm. When I ask her about it she says there is lots of work to do and she has to do it. Generally it is a stressful job and she doesn't like it much. But she refuses to quit.

So either less than half of minimum wage or be in the top 18% if earners?

Thank god for the transparency. I would have no idea what the salary would have been before applying.

From chronic procrastination to productivity: my journey using extrinsic motivation

Ever felt like you're stuck in a never-ending loop of procrastination, to the point where it's crippling your progress? Well, that was me not so long ago. Deadlines whooshing by, tasks piling up, anxiety through the roof – procrastination had me in a chokehold. The problem was I relied too much on intrinsic motivation. I thought, as long as I have the passion and the interest, I can accomplish anything. But there are days when you just don't feel it. That's when tasks start piling up. I was stuck in this loop until I discovered the concept of extrinsic motivation. For those who aren't familiar, extrinsic motivation is what pushes you towards specific outcomes or goals. It's driven by external factors like rewards, recognition, or avoiding negative consequences, not necessarily because you want to do the task. It doesn't necessarily make the task more enjoyable, but it sure helps to…

Can I file or voluntarily redundancy and leave immediately?

Hello everyone, first post here. l currently work in a small biotech company. Layoffs have begun and resulted in 20% of the staff being made redundant. The team I am in is apparently risk free but they have asked us if I want to have a voluntary redundancy. Our team used to have 10 people and now it has 5. My workload has doubled and is not feasible. My current notice period is 3 months but if I ask for the voluntarily redundancy can I leave immediately?

What are some good starter jobs that will not exploit me too much?

This might not be a typical post complaining about corporate greed, but I figured that I would ask some of you this. I am going to get my first job soon, and I want to know what places will not treat me like shit and pay me relatively well for a starter job, since you all probably know what places treat everyone like shit.

This sub makes me scared of America

I’m a Dutch guy with astma and a back disc hernia atm waiting for surgery. I always loved America, I have family and friends living in the west coast and I try to visit as often as I can. I’m in love with San Diego and always wanted to try to immigrate and live and work there. Until I followed this and multiple subreddits about the working and living conditions of Americans. I have a severe case of asthma which means I need to medicatie daily. I pay the minimum for that here in the Netherlands. I also have a hernia for the 2nd time. Both times I’m unable to work for more than 4 hours and being a total of 14 months in sick leave that have been paid in full by my employer. The surgery that I’m getting is not crippling me financially, it’s only costing me about…
