Employers lose out on so much talent due to not hiring those who lack good interview skills. Can’t there be another way to vet people?

For example, I’m not always good at verbally communicating what I know. And I may be a bit slow at first, but once I gain work experience, I shine. If I get the chance.

My boss takes a lot of time off

I love working for my current job as I work for the government and I really enjoy the positive impact that I can bring to the community and all that jazz, however I never realized how easy it is to take so much time off. I have been here for 7 months and in this time, my boss has taken 2 2 week vacations and now is taking vacation days for Fourth of July weekend. She's a hard worker and stays late all the time and helps me out and is overall is a great boss, but my question to you is do you think excessively taken days off is a bad thing for a boss? As a new employee I'm hesitant to do so because I'm new and want to be known as reliable, but perhaps this is a good thing, right? Like the work environment supports taking our…

Friend told me about his co-worker being ‘punished’

Disclaimer: not in US. Apparently his co-worker unknowingly broke a clause in a contract and the company wanted to penalize him by deducting 400$ out of his monthly salary (minimum salary here is 230$ a month). Granted deducting from salary is illegal in my country you can only deduct from a bonus or something like that. and so he didn't think much about it, but during pay day he noticed that they actually followed through with removing that sum and went to H.R who told him that he had '17 days of absence', and that it was a way to deduct from his salary without having legal action. He did try to amass witnesses to prove he didn't miss 17 work days but people didn't want to speak out of self preservation. He advised that we always record conversations with H.R

My Notice! :)

After two years in my current position, I am finally putting in my two-week notice! I work in a highly-dynamic, high-pressure position that requires me to work insane hours and with many cultures. The manager that hired me in was laid-off last year and my current manager doesn’t understand all the hoops I go through to get my job done. So, she doesn’t appreciate all that I do. She gaslights me when it is time for performance reviews and berates me for petty feedback from people that don’t want to support the markets I work. Nobody wants my job, I get it. But, I am good at it and I have thick skin. Recently, I had planned three days of on-site events in a four-day “Roadshow” with the groups I work with. The person that planned the one day got ALL credit from my management knowing that I planned the…

I got shorted on 2 checks in a row and the money I’ll get to “make it right” is now nowhere near enough because I’ve incurred more fees than what I originally owed. What do I do??

I would rant about how many ppl i know they’ve done this to at my job but i don’t want to get more angry right now. My job shorted my last 2 checks over 50%. For example one of my checks was $300 instead of $2000. I’ve reported to everyone i need to at work and HR but the managers trying the hardest for me still haven’t been successful. I’ve reported to the Dept of Labor. The problem is I’ve looked up things and I don’t think there’s a way for me to get the money I need to pay what I actually owe now because they screwed me so bad. My jobs higher ups seem to not “get it” how bad my situation is. I obviously can’t afford a lawyer. Do I have any options?

I’m 32 years old & concerned my job has damaged my health.

I've worked at a company that manufactures heated cabinets for the food service industry, and have been there about 4 years now. About 2.5 of these years, I've been building heated appliances which utilize fiberglass roll insulation. Every morning, we cut the necessary amount to size, for the cabinets we plan to build for the day. We do not wear masks, nor any special suit. Just typical beater work clothes. I don't know why I had never thought about it, or noticed, but two days ago I noticed all of the glass dust that comes off of it when disturbed. I happened to be wearing black jeans, and when using the flashlight on my phone, I found my pants to be covered in the glass dust. I started to look around, and found it everywhere. On the interior of my brand new car, on surfaces of my house, etc. I…
