Month: July 2023
So since I got hired about 8 or 9 months ago, things have been okay. That is, until yesterday. About a week ago or so I talked to my boss and asked that she stop consistently scheduling me 6 days in a row because due to having a chronic illness, my body cannot handle that workload. I come into work yesterday to check the new schedule and noticed that I had been cut down to about 28 hours a week. My boss told me that because of my “inflexibility”, her “hands were tied”. And that until I agree to go back to working 6 day weeks, my hours will continue to be cut like this. All I asked for was a normal 5 on, 2 off schedule. I'm not trying to get out of work. I have a chronic illness, which I made very clear when I was hired on.…
Just got laid off from my company of two years and they said we can't tell anyone for a few months or risk losing severance pay. Is this normal? Either way, back to the job hunt. Went from a teaching job to a sales support/training role and not sure where to go from here.
40 hours a week for a non-living wage??
The Government got involved and said it had to end.
My thought here is that we have plenty of people who believe in this concept. If we can somehow get this to be an official religion that exempts incomes and allows everyone to utilize IDR plans to effectively pay 0$ a month… we use the existing system like these shit heads do. We already have a “place of worship” here where we gather and discuss our beliefs… I eat crayons so if someone with some more wrinkles could weigh in? I watched the John Oliver Last week tonight recently where they created the “Our Lady of Perpetual Exemption” church… gave me this idea.
Emailing executives
I make the schedule for the entire Northern Mid-Atlantic region, which is 3 different branches. When I send the schedule out, I like to add something funny to lighten the mood. Yesterday I found out that the email group for each branch also contains the executive team. Meaning that each executive member received the attached email 3 times. The scheduling emails have to be proofread by HR going forward.
I’m currently on vacation out of the country for the holiday weekend. My main job gave me the days off no problem, but my second job denied them because holidays are blackout dates. I had this vacation booked and paid for months ago so I wasn’t going to cancel. My second job has Protected PTO which removes points for absences and technically is supposed to protect you from retaliation. So I technically can’t get in trouble for calling out. I’m curious to know who in this sub has done this before, and what was the outcome?
